People need to get over it, he's not going to go up in weight when he's on the verge of a world title shot at his current weight. That avenue is open if he loses.
lol he will get ****ed up at cruiserweight people who say he should go up clearly dont know that the top cruiserweights are on another öevel than him. much stronge, bigger, more power and most of them even have more skill than him.
i think you all forget bellew was knocking out guys for fun at 91kg in the ams which is cruiserweight i the pros he won abas 3x's and hes 6'2 so how on earth would he be to small at the weight he has sucked himself in droping that extra 1st 11lbs i think he needs to move up as he dead at the weight an looks sucked in an dehydrated he has no muscle build or definition even as evidence hes killing himself going through hell etc to make weight thats where the emotional mood swings are steming from i bet.
He does have stamina issues but this is the weight he fights at. He's winning let him get on with it.
Bellew is freakishly fit in terms of his cardiovascular fitness and all round stamina. This is due to years of living the sport clean and working hard in the gym. Essentially this it what see's him over the line whet it matters - under them lights. The problem Tony has is that his methods of reducing his frame are likely the dated methods from back in the 90's. Thus reducing his anaerobic capacity during a 12 round fight at the top level. Essentially having the ability to fight at an anaerobic pace as oppose to a high cardiovascular output. This points to one thing, weight drain. Look at the look on Bellew's face when he's pushed into anaerobic territory, he looks absolutely spent. When he has a break in the corner or the pace of the fight of the fight naturally reduces Bellew looks ok again, because he is back into high CV output and not anaerobic capability. This really is phenomenal in terms of Bellew actually seeing fights through and beating some top guys despite fighting at 3 quarters of his optimum performance level. I whole heart-idly believe Tony Bellew after say 8-12 months of turning his nutrition plan upside down and making the move to CW could be an explosive big punching average sized CW who could be a world champion at the weight. I really really hope he thinks about moving up now while he's still young enough.
Thing is at 30 years old, after 6 years of killing his body, will it be able to adapt. Also have to question how effective Tonys style would be as the smaller man.
Its not like he's in serious ill health Rob is it, his resting pulse rate is probably below 35. It would take a few months to see a marked difference in performance but thats all. I feel if he done it the correct way and paid as much attention to nutrition as he does to the gym he'd be twice as explosive, Tony Bellew with his punching ability could wreak havoc at CW IMO. Someone needs to introduce Tony to Mike Dolce.
Why? He is in line for a title shot at his current weight why move up? Tony risked everything last night by taking on Chilemba again so soon, if he had lost that it would have been a long road back, it was high stakes and Tony should be commended for it as he takes a fair amount of abuse at times. Tony delivered under huge amounts of pressure, I was disappointed in certain aspects of his performance as he seemed to make similar mistakes to the first fight but did improve and got the job done against an opponent clearly not suited to Tony's style. I think Tony deserves more credit than what he is currently receiving, yes he has said some things which people seem to have taken issue with but he is not the first and won't be the last, and he is clearly not happy with the stuff that has been said but I don't feel that this should overshadow what was a good night for Tony.
This thread is relating to Tony Bellew's performance as a Light Heavyweight in contrast to his performance in a potentially higher weight class. Thats physical performance not technical performance.
