I don't see the problem with Cleverly fighting weak opposition at this stage of his career.

Hatton and Calzaghe fought loads of crappy opponents as WBO or "WBU" champion. And they seemed to have more potential than Cleverly anyway. So, if it works for them, it's okay for lesser fighters surely.

Frank W~rren knows how to develop these fighters, or at least make some dough with them. That's the game we are in.

 

I know what your saying but I feel Cleverly will learn next to nothing knocking over bums, if he isn't being tested then how is he going to improve?

 

I wouldn't see a problem if he wasn't calling himself ''world champion''.

It's not as if he's the only one guilty of it mind, plenty of ''champions'' in America and Germany are fighting bums. It's just that we expect better, that's all.

 

I don't know yet that Robin Krasniqi is a "bum".

Maybe Cleverly might learn a little to improve slowly, maybe not. Like I said, Hatton and Calzaghe had the same type of challengers, often.
Hatton didn't fight anyone of serious world caliber in his first 25 fights.

I'm not saying it's good, but since Cleverly's not exactly an outstanding talent it's not surprising he's been brought along slowly.

 

Old man Bernard Hopkins is the actual world champion, which kind of shows how crappy the division is anyway.

 

Cleverly is a good fighter with a lot of promise, It would be good to see him better fights.
