''The current champions are all really good. I don't really mind who I fight. They're all good champions but I'm ready to step in there with anyone. In an ideal world, I'd like to go for the best fighter and in my opinion that's Yoan Pablo Hernandez. Nobody wants to face a 6ft 4in Cuban - and a southpaw at that. It sounds like a nightmare on paper.;If I can beat Mr Hernandez then to me, it makes me the best cruiserweight in the world and that's all I ever wanted to be; the best fighter in the world at my chosen weight division. That's the guy I'm aiming for. He's the longest reigning champion and the best champion.;If I can beat him, I'll face any of the other champions. I'm happy to go straight in to unification matches'' :rofl:rofl:roflatsch Hernandez is not the best fighter in the division, he's the weakest world champion :deal but he'd still KO Bellew Even if you beat him, it wouldn't make you the best in the world, Huck was number 1 and Glowacki just beat him but no one is aying hes number 1 . Bellew is already starting to talk talking about unifying!!! How deluded is this guy I remember him saying constantly that Stevenson was the best fighter at light heavyweight.. and he used to say Kovalev was 'just a puncher'. complete rubbish. He also thought Hopkins would beat Kovalev. Before that he used to go on about Chad Dawson being exceptional and being the number 1 in the division. More rubbish You just have to ignore what Bellew says.. He's very deluded, and seems to be biased towards black fighters similar to spencer fearon
I can't stand Scott Gilfoid, 90*% of the time what he's saying is wrong but he's got it spot on with Bellew's latest comments were still waiting for Bellew to fight his first talented cruiserweight contender. I mean, Bellew has been fighting in the cruiserweight division now since March 2014, and he still hasnt faced any of the talented contenders like Olesandr Usyk, Rakhim Chakhkiev, Krzystof Wlodarczyk, Thabiso Mchunu, Dmitry Kudryashov, Ola Afolabi, Victor Ramirez, Noel Gevor and Ilunga Makabu. Thats a lot guys that Bellew has seemingly been steered around by Hearn with his match-making. I mean, how do you not match Bellew against at least one of those guys during all this time. I can understand why Hearn hasnt put Bellew in with any of them, but hes not going him any favors by matching him against weak opposition every time out, because its not going to help Bellew at all. Those are prerequisite opposition that you need to be able to beat before you get to guys like Yoan Pablo Hernandez, Grigory Drozd, Denis Lebedev and Krzysztof Glowacki. If this was school, the classes that Bellew has been taking are basic beginning algebra, whereas he needs to be taking calculus so that he can start his engineering courses and not wind up totally lost. The easy path that Bellew has been given isnt helping him any improve enough to get ready for what hes going to face when he gets in the ring with the likes of Yoan Pablo Hernandez. If I was promoting Bellew, I would have gotten it over with first thing to see if hes right for the cruiserweight division. Id put him in with Usyk or Kudryashov, and if he was blasted out in a couple of rounds like I think he would, Id have a long talk with him about him either retiring or moving back down to the light heavyweight division where he belongs. If I can beat Mr. [Yoan Pablo] Hernandez then to me, it makes me the best cruiserweight in the world and thats all I ever wanted to be; the best fighter in the world at my chosen weight division, Bellew said. Thats the guy Im aiming for. Hes the longest reigning champion and the best champion. Oh Boy, Bellew is starting to sound like hes really deluded. I hate to break the bad news to Bellew, but if he beats Hernandez, he would only be beating what many boxing fans see as the paper champion of the bunch in terms of the four cruiserweight champions. Hernandez is seen by a lot of fans as the weak link among the cruiserweight champions. The strong champions are considered to be Denis Lebedev, Grigory Drozd and Krzysztof Glowacki. As such, if Bellew beats Yoan Pablo Hernandez, hell just be the new paper champion, and certainly not the best fighter in the division. The thing of it is some of the contenders in the division like Usyk and Kudryashov might even be better than all of the current cruiserweight world champions. I rate Usyk as a better fighter than all of the existing champions, and Kudryashov has got the punching power to beat all four of them if he connects with one of his big shots.
He's chasing the easiest belt, nothing surprising really. I don't really rate him at all to be honest. He's alright, that's it. Never understood why he always goes on about his power either. I agree with you, he does need to fight a worthy contender but I'm willing to bet he fights for some international belt or something to get himself ranked and then get a shot
Yup Bellew can bump his gums something rotten however i think in the cases of Stevenson and Kovalev and Chad was due to him facing Stevenson and Celverly had been in with Kov. So with his comments he was trying to make Clevs loss worse and also that Stevenson was better than Kov purely cos he was fighting him at the time. Kovalev woulda dealt with Bellew a lot quicker and more emphatically than Stevenson did i reckon.
Yeah he's chasing the easiest belt yet claiming he's chasing hardest champion.. All the ''I carry power'' and ''I put people to sleep''... tony 'bomber' bellew.... when he has average power! Hes either deluded or a compulsive liar
In his opinion Hernandez is number 1 in the division that's all. So he is saying that if he beats the best then he is the best, hardly a ridiculous statement, don't forget to not let your dislike of Bellew cloud the judgement of a perfectly reasonable comment.
He's absolutely heartbroken that after his amateur career knocking guys out cold and thinking he wasan amazing worldclass devastating puncher he's been exposed as having moderate power at best He went from "I can knockout heavyweights" to "I'm not saying I'm Kovalev but.." back to "I carry POWAHHHHH,WHEN I HIT GUYS THEY GO,NOBODY CAN TRADE LEFT HOOKS WITH ME!!" after the Brudov knockout, Brudov then went and got flattened by Chakiev in 4
