There is no question the boxers of today, benefiting from better training, generally being bigger and stronger, more complex diets, the ability to draw exp from historic fighters etc. are going to win more fights than they loser against fighters from 100 years ago.

The question was Skill not a head to match up otherwise we would be agreeing.

Wilder landed 39 jabs in a 12 round fight!! Good try on the thread though.

 

All sorts of heavyweights have power. It takes plenty of skill to deliver it like Wilder does. Every one of his opponents has been caught with bombs. I can't say the same for Sam Peter, whose opponents will tell you hit very hard.

 

Nowhere near the worst. He's a clever and knows his own body and how to work his limitations, and has great hand-eye co-ordination, even if he gets carried away.

You simply can't be heavyweight champ and not have a lot of skill.

Peter fought: mcline, toney, maskaev, chambers, vitaly and wlad 2x, pulev, prime helenius.
