Has there ever been a more ludicrous fighter than Tony Bellend, pre-fight he gives us his usual prepared to die in the ring nonsense, then fights like a schoolgirl in the ring, this bum is the biggest joke in boxing, the bum should return to the doors where he belongs.
He also seems to constantly go out of his way to mention he is bi-racial in all his interviews, like that gives him special powers or something.
Never said anything about being willing to die in the ring for this fight, just because he may have said it in the build up to one fight doesn't mean he said it for every fight. Good fighter, gets unwarranted criticism for no reason at all, he is portrayed to be the worst human on the planet when in reality he is a really nice guy that is a hot head, hardly a crime.
I don't think Bellew is a bad person, he is a family man and is fighting for his kids future, cant really knock a man for that. I do agree that he plays the whole warrior card far too much and he does not fight like one or go out on his shield. His fight with Stevenson just proved that, Bellew bottled it big time. I honestly think he is one of the most boring fighters i have ever seen which is a real shame as he does posses real skills, you just don't get to see them 100% of the time. Either way im not a fan, the whole Cleverly rivalry is boring too just like both fights were.
Isn't anywhere near World class. Doesn't come across a likeable person. Talks big but doesn't back it up. Fights in a very boring, safety first, low output style and his fights always stink the joint out. Yet somehow he's quite popular in the UK and has even headlined a PPV. I think the real mugs are his fans.
Boring fighter, boring character, makes fights boring and has boring rivalries. Has always struck me as a prize ****.
