Does this mean that Usyk is a harderr puncher than given credit for, how did his punches compare to the punches Haye managed to land against Bellew or did he just land more?
Depends what the claim is. He is far from a "featherfist." A lot of folks called a stoppage rounds 7-9, "mid-late." It was predictable but I suppose what wasn't was Usyk losing rounds convincingly along the way.
Usyk is a hard puncher, he always has his guard up very high so from that position you aren't able to generate that much power, if he threw his punches from his hips more, he'd be knocking out everyone.
He does punch harder than most think. Bellew was gassed and Usyk finally had the chance to set his feet and throw, unlike vs Gassiev where he stayed on tip-toes all fight. I was impressed by Bellew's boxing ability though, he really has kept improving.
I agree, Bellew soaked all Haye's punches for two fights, but it also goes to show how you are more susceptible when you are gassed.
Usyk punches hard enough that your not going to try and walk and walk through him and will knock you spark out if your gassed as he showed
