I can see the fight happening before the end of the year and we will forget about all this IMO.

 

On the brightside this sets up a nice Bellw Cleverly fight sooner down the line they can do a proper build up get that press conference on replay market it as bad blood a full training camp no excuses.

 

From a personal point of view, I don't believe Cleverly has made a bad decision here. Why should he have to move up in weight, just because Bellew is knowhere near his fighting weight?

Far better to take on somebody else at 175 and then meet Bellew further down the line when he's had a proper training camp behind him?

Because Warren has once again let Sky down. Because once again Sky is spending a disproportionate amount of time trying to save an event that most of their subscribers don't care about. Because Matchroom are tight with Sky due to other sports and can use that relationship to dominate the television dates when the current deals are up.

I mean the past 48years have been farcial. Everybody...and I mean EVERYBODY...knew that Brahammer was a flight risk. So why the **** wasn't there a bout third from the top featuring a name light heavyweight that could be moved up at short notice? And did they not bother to weigh Bellew before announcing the fight and having Sky start hyping the **** out of it?

the tickets are sold as "world championship boxing"...I wonder if that has anything to do with the decision to duck out of the bellew fight once it was apparent it would have to be at catchweight...with no world strap on the line maybe warren would have been wide open for refund claims?

The fans were buzzing about this, now we are left with a guy no-one has heard of. Perhaps I'm basing this too much on emotion at this point, but Cleverly hasnt acted great here if it was his choice. Of course i'd love to see it when both has ample time to prepare, but EVERYONE was buzzing about it. And he chose a russain? Not happy

 

even if he's a level below cleverly, if he can punch it always makes the fight interesting. anyone who can punch a bit (like tony bellew) always has a chance in a fight.
but the fact this guy has only 5 ko's in 22 fights, really makes me wonder what kind of a challenge he's gonna put up.
this is yet another black eye for boxing, and does'nt do much to promote the sport we all love.

 

Agree. The guy has his world title fight fall through on short notice, agree to fight a new opponent (switch from Southpaw to Orthodox) gets the belt out of the ring which no fighter wants to do only to be told the replacement opponent cant make the weight... why the **** should he give up weight??

For this ppv its a **** take (should pop it on SS) but bottle up Clev/Bellew and give it the works for the next defense or 1 after. It'd be a closer/better fight (still favour Clev) that way anyway in the long run.
