After getting bored with the idea after so long i’ve developed a bit of an appetite for it again now. I thought Bellew would win the first fight, and I believe he will win the rematch. I honestly thought Haye would come in significantly lighter for this fight but looking at videos on YouTube, he’s looking close to or around the 16 stone mark again. Bellew actually looks thin around the face, and I could see him come in at around 14 1/2 for this. He gassed in the mid rounds so this is probably a good option imo. I think Haye is going to try and box at first, and set his work up off the jab. Not being able to throw a proper straight right will once again make him more predictable as he’ll look to come in close and launch those wild hooks instead. Bellew should have the speed to slip them again. I can see the achilles injury hindering his power, too. I think Bellew takes him in the championship rounds. Sad end to Haye’s career.
I honestly hope a jumbo jet crash lands on the event!.... It is the absolute worst of the worst that could only happen from Hearn... Just think about this fight ?break it down and ask yourself why is it happening and why are your being asked to PPV?... Why would any of you pay to watch 2 washed up cruiserweights fighting at Heavyweight for no belt and absolutely zero chance of a belt at cruiser or heavyweight!!!...Somebody please explain because i am perplexed
I think Bellew wins between 9-11. I think if Haye's body doesn't break down he will be easier to be knocked out as he will be attacking and leave gaps. Bellew extra speed will win fight
Haye KO mid-late. He’ll box smarter this time, be more economical with his shots and be more patient and build his attacks. I got for round 6.
I was of the opinion Haye was buggered before the first fight. Achillies rumours were doing the rounds on the Tuesday, he flies to Germany then his achillies accidently goes in the fight. Yeah okay. He was injected up for the fight, cause if he pulled out it was literally career over. Hence I thought the wild swings in the early rounds hoping to land one so it didn't go on. The accident in round 6 was just provoking an already existing injury. However, I think training or camp is not going well. Even in the build up to the second fight (the first time round) Haye likened Bellew to robbing a bank and it'll never happen again. He then gets injured again. Then suddenly he's this humble gentlemen, who's coming to hopefully win but doesn't know. I think training or sparring isn't going to plan, and he knows he's finished. Not saying anything stupid as to not look stupid when promoting in the future. Will gracefully lose, announce his retirement after the fight, get emotional saying he's had a great career and we remember the great David Haye for what he once was. Bellew goes on to have one last fight vs Ward or the Cruiser winner and retires after losing to them before becoming a full time pundit for his mate Eddie. A bit long winded of a post, just this fight upsets me as I can't stand Bellew and David was probably my favourite fighter and the man that got me into boxing.
I think the same. Given the amount of injuries Haye has had and given what happened in the first fight, the above is a massive, massive if. The worry for people backing Haye is whether all of those injuries have compounded over time to rob Haye of his speed and lateral movement which served to open up the angles from which he would land his explosive power.
I’ve floated the idea to the missus that I might make a last minute dash to this - she’s not having it at present. As for the fight itself there’s no doubt in my mind that David Haye is the better boxer, he’s one of Britain’s finest ever. Fantastic in his pomp but the reality is that he retired, got skint, came back to get paid and his body can’t take it anymore. It’s a shame. I suppose it’s like John Terry playing for Aston Villa, Gerrard’s Legs going and not being able to run in his latter Liverpool days, Gary Neville getting torn apart by poor players and having to retire mid season. Bellew (like him or not, a true subscriber to the warrior code) wins via Hayes body falling apart around 9-11.
He’s not a popular chap but he is a warrior. I showed my missus the fight against Stevenson. He was killing himself to get down to the weight to fight someone who was very comfortable at it. He got outclassed but he didn’t run scared, goes toe to toe at times, scored a legitimate knock down (imo) but ultimately gets smashed everywhere.
I agree with all your points except one, an I kmow i am in the minority with my following view. David Haye was an outstanding fighter in his day, very fast, explosive with his punch power, but the thing is I don't have his boxing skills were ever that good. He was a very sucessful one trick pony. How often did he how out working patiently behind the jab dictating distance etc ? Not knocking him as he stuck to his strengths and they worked really well for him.
Hayes shoulder was so bad he had to retire after reconstruction surgery in 2013...I just don't buy that it is any better. Think he will get an injury during the fight or have one going into the fight, and his body will break down again
