Bellew vs Stubbs - Feb 19th at York Hall

Bomber hasn't been on here in a while, I hope that we haven't seen the last of him as I really enjoyed the interaction with him.

Anyway good to see Bomber keeping active, something that he hasn't had the luxury of having so far in his career and something that has probably really harmed his development.

 

Was just looking at Stubbs' record and saw he fought Hastings Rasani last time out. Seriously, who hasn't this guy fought?

you could also say a genuine top prospect should not have to be grounding out wins to domestic level gate keepers like Ajisafe and McEnzie

 

This looks like an easy win for Bellow. Frank doesn't want to risk a repeat of what nearly happened last time. Bellew should have learned enough that night to reevaluate his overinflated opinion of himself. Good prospect still but needs to show a more mature performance.

 

Who's called him a top level prospect?.....cos i haven't. I think he could go places if he improves...but that's all if's and but's. But yes your right he shouldn't be.

The fact that he's answer questions is a positive. Look at Appleby (built up by certain fans)....he was asked a simple question by Layrea and capitulated all because the guy has a half decent jab.

It's easy to hate on the lad...a lot of Tony's issues in his fights have been mental aspects such as frustration and trying to hard to look good or rolling back to far and to early.

He's got some talent but as much as i'm a fan he will need to improve and i think this is a decent fight for him because i think he needs to have a fight where he can settle and work on certain aspects of game as well as seeing his weight and getting the ball rolling for 2011.

If you was to ask me ''is Frank concerned about recent performances?'' i'd say yes. This will be more Frank and Dean putting heads together and steadying there man before he gets in with a guy who won't let him off hook.

 

Let's face it if you was Frank who would you put him in with after his last 2 displays.

Even though i've been impressed with a few aspects he has been on edge with Ovil and had to extend himself to get win against Bob.

If i was his promoter i'd do exactly what Warren's done.

 

This is a good card good strength in depth only Warren can do that

 

Khan had a life and death battle with Limond and Gomez. This fights are great learning fights and shows the sort of heart and character that Bellew has won both of them. Some top prospects need hard domestic fights to prepare themselves for world title fights.

Knocking people out in impressive fashion doesn't always prove what is needed to step up to the next level.

 

One could argue that Khan didn't learn too much from the limond fight as evidenced by the prescott figt but your point is correct.

The first McDermott fight was a great learning fight for Fury.

We need to see our prospects in more of these fights early in their careers.

 

This is all well and good if Bellew comes out after the fight and says "It was good to get back on my feet hopefully I can push towards the European title this year" but it is far more likley we here "NO ****ING LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT IN THE WORLD CAN TAKE MY POWER. I WANT CLEVERLY....**** THAT CLEVERLY IS A BUM I WANT HOPKINS THEN I AM MOVING TO HEAVYWEIGHT TO FIGHT KLITSCKO"

Honestly I think Warrens thought process is keep him winning and feed him to Cleverly for his first defence.

That's Tony though......i don't mind it...all fighters are different and he has a edge to him.

My point was about Warren and Warren can't speak for Bellew ....he's his own man. Frank can only put the fights in front of him...Bellew does the rest.

What i don't mind about Tony he wants them fights and that's good and ok to many he may come across as a **** and a arsehole but this lad is willing to put it all on the line. He believes in himself....most power punchers do tbh.

 

I like it to mate but you cannot have it both ways. You cannot give it the big un' when you struggling with McEnzie and fighting Stubbs and not get stick on this forum.

I really hope Bellew shows improvment I would love it if he became a world champion. Lets hope he can do it. He has an exciting style.

The problem for me is he is not as big a puncher as he and others think, and he needs to go to Cruiserweight.

I honestly beleive Warren is thinking keep him winning, feed him to Cleverly at the end of the year, after the loss move him to cruiser and build him up again.

 

Rob you are not in his camp, you do not train with him on a daily basis, you are not him.

You have absolutely no clue wether he needs to go to cruiserweight or not!!!

Weight could be the reason for his last two fights but we don't know. Personally I think it was more down to a lack of experience.
