I'd respect him if he does, absolutely. He'll get pasted though

 

I'm pretty sure Haye will beat Bellew and we'll see a trilogy.

If however Bellew wins the rematch and genuinely invokes his right to the WBC title shot then he will get my full respect. It would probably be the best payday available at that stage.

Of course I think he will get destroyed by either Usyk, Gassiev or Dorticos but it will be a bold move.

Personally, I think if Bellew actually beats Haye he will box Ward at "HW".

 

Haye needs to go in lighter, remember when he beat chisora he said he would have lost if he had gone in the same weight as when he boxed Ruiz... I don't think weight suits haye, I can not see belles beating haye unless there is another injury in fight, I could not believe bellew won the first, but I was surprised with how unconvincing bellew was against a one legged David haye, imagine of haye had one leg against wilder Joshua etc... If haye wins I wouldn't wanna see a trilogy not sure about everyone else

 

It reeks of him lining up one last PPV payday. I guess the respect part depends on how he performs. If he is utterly outclassed and easily knocked out or UD'd at a canter, then it will just look like a cash-out. If he wins or at least looks like he can win, then he gets loads of respect.

Of course you have to respect him anyway for what he did at domestic level and European level, and for testing himself against the best on one occasion.

 

It's hard to respect Tony as a fighter because he repeatedly said he is only in it for the money and doesn't care about the sport or the fans. He is also content at trying to con the public into thinking he's a PPV fighter (Cleverly/Haye) when really he is a fringe world level cruiser (a great achievement in itself but a bit of humility goes far) - all for his own financial gain. In short he's a con artist. Best win is Makubu followed by Cleverly (worst PPV of all time, surely) which in my eyes does not give him leverage to con the public into thinking he is a Heavyweight contender. Haye doesn't come into the equation as it was obvious he was not fit to fight.

It's probably best to reserve our judgement until after he actually fights Usyk. Tony talks a lot but like water will take the easiest route to the cash (Haye 3, Cleverly 3 at the millennium?)

Most fighters carry excess weight as they either can't be bothered putting in hard graft or to add extra power. Haye puts work in and doesn't need to slow himself down to add power as he has that, in fact extra bulk decreased h8s power as it slowed down the speed shots were getting grown with.

 

I think Bellew will pip him but Hayes chances are increased if as expected he comes in lighter. I respect Bellew and don't think he is scared of top CWs. I actually think he's competitive against them all, not saying he wins but think he would run them all close even at this stage of his career.

 

I think Bellew beats Haye. I can see the fight being similar to the first, and Haye's body will break down in some way. Either an injury, or he simply gasses. A prime Haye wipes the floor with Bellew but this is far from a prime Haye. Even before he got injured in the Bellew fight, he looked a shadow of his former self. His speed, timing and general sharpness looked gone.

 

I think haye underestimated bellew last time I can't imagine he will do that again, gotta come in lighter

 

Bellew is talking big because he hates not been the center of a attention even in a weight class he couldn't wait to run from he has to let the matchroom fans boys his a fight man when its clear to people with no bias his not

 

Not sure he will deserve respect, he would have if he entered the WBSS but didn't. He's now hoping for a big pay day against the winner and he knows he won't win.

Had he gone in the tournament from the start, sure.

But Dorticos, Gassiev, Breidis, that monster hitting russian? They'd all starch him.

 

Good post mate but I would change the third last word in the final sentence from box his head off to knock his head off. That is assuming he does not turn his back again as in the Stevenson fight.
