Never the less he has challenged for a title twice against very good champions, one as a very inexperienced fighter who was stepping up many many levels, and that isn't up for debate. Stevenson at the time was widely considered no.1 in the division too. Santos may not have fought the biggest punchers but he still hadn't been troubled in his career and Bellew punches very hard so don't dispute that because from your statement you admitted that and yes I have seen in interviews he states he isn't the best boxer in the world and he tries to make the most of his talents that he has, and at least when he loses, like the Stevenson fight, he says yeah I got smashed unlike many fighters who say it was lucky or whatever else.
I'm not his biggest fan (though I enjoy him being interviewed about boxing given his knowledge) but he is easily a Top 15 Cruiserweight. If anybody can name me 14 better Cruisers in the world I'll eat my flat cap.
Lebedev Drozd Huck Hernandez Mchunu Chakhkiev Ofalabi Kalenga Wlodarcyzk Bezerra Briedis Dorticos Kudryashov Rodriguez Shimmel Janik Shumenov Bellew is utter ****.
So far I've just had biased, Bellew nuthuggers saying no and no actual arguments as to why I'm wrong. Bellew is ****. He struggled against Cleverly who is ****. He drew against Chilemba who is ****. He struggled against Orvil Mckenzie who is ****. The guys I listed would beat Bellew. He just isn't very good. No heart, no desire, mediocre power, slow, plodding, ****-poor defence, 1 dimensional and a shaky mandible. He's not even top 20. Fact. So you clowns think Bellew would stand a chance against say, Ofolabi or Lebedev? LOL get real. Lebedev would knock his head off and Ofolabi would cruise to a UD shutout.
No he doesn't stand a chance with Ofolabi or Lebedev... Ofolabi would stop him. But he clearly does with many of the other fights you scrolled through boxrec for. Oh and he clearly is top 20 'Fact'... as your beloved boxrec has him at number 8 and the WBO have him at number 2.
No your the biased bellend that is just talking ****. Cleverly is world class at light heavy so he is still a good cruiserweight, he himself would be top 20. As for Mckenzie and Chilemba, he struggled first time round then beat them both convincingly second time around, and neither of those guys are **** either. Bellew has very good power and that is widely recognised. He is no monster puncher like GGG or Kovalev but he hits hard enough to KO anyone really and he has one punch KO'd a lot of good fighters. He has very good heart, I would like you to come up with an example of him not showing heart, same goes for desire, he is by no means quick but he isn't slow either, he does have a leaky defence ill agree with you on that and his chin is slightly suspect but he has only been stopped on his feet against one of the biggest punchers P4P, and the rest of the times he has got back up and gone on to win
Bellew in all fairness was boiling himself down to 175 all these years, I think hes better suited as a cruiserweight. I think he has at least a chance against Lebedev if he fights smart but when you compare him to the big guys like Huck and Hernandez he would get blown out of the water. Mchunu would have a good chance of outboxing him too That being said does it matter if a fighter cant ever make it to the very top of the sport? He doesnt deserve half the criticism even if he never makes it. He always goes into a fight with a fire in his stomach wanting to win and will 9/10 go to war with whoever hes fighting. True fighting spirit and i wish him the best of luck
The Stevenson fight. Where he spent the entire build bigging himself up but once he got in the ring he fought like an utter fairy. It was an embarrassing performance. You could tell Bellew just didn't want to be there. Utter joke. He showed no heart and no desire during the biggest fight of his career.
So he has a bit of a dig, so what? So do most fighters, p4p I wouldn't even call Bellew a "big puncher" he has a 50 percent KO ratio ffs, and he's still not world class and is not world championship material, so he should stop acting the big one and for gods sake stop embarrassing himself by promising big performances and "im willing to die in the ring" etc then lapping it when it comes to the actual fight. he's boring, hes a bully, and most of us are sick of hearing about him
