Curtis Jackson bought out Gamboa's contract.

Curtis Jackson realized he is inept and not prepared to do anything with that contract.

Curtis Jackson discreetly tries to return contract to previous owner and save face.

Gamboa is essentially back with Top Rank.

This. Arum is about business. Nothing more nothing less...

Also, don't completely discount the possibility that Arum sees a kindred spirit in Jackson...a fellow New Yorker who's getting into the promotion game in much the same way that he did. Bob is always going to be about business first BUT if he's given a choice between doing business with Golden Boy or someone from his neck of the woods(who also has capital) then you can guess which path he'll take...

You think Gamboa sells even one more ticket or PPV to the Pac/Marquez fight?

He sees Jackson as a GBP competitor but not a TR competitor? I can see this when May was on board maybe, but not now.

As good a theory as any I guess. This would also bring him Dibs and Dirrell.

I didn't say anything about competitors. I said that Arum may actually see Jackson as a kindred spirit and if he's given a choice between Golden Boy or 50 he'll probably be more willing to do business with 50.

Maybe gamboa didnt screw anyone over and was in his right to get out of that contract and Arum knows he never agreed to a Rios fight.....

Arum's game may have just become apparent. Pal up with 50 who is now saying Floyd is ducking Pac. I knew Arum had a reason for putting a fighter that jerked him around a spot on his card.

So who were you in a previous life. And yeah, it looks like Arum did have an endgame. We are seeing it unfold now I think.
