froch looked a lot worse, its all about money eddie hearn would be finished if froch lost that fight, who would his main man be then? barker retired, brook fights once a year against nobody's. You know it was a bit fishy with froch only a point behind on the cards

They're English, happy to take the subscription money off Scots, Irish etc, but they are and will always be beneath contempt for the little Englanders

In fairness this goes both ways. The Scots don't mind the good parts of being in the UK and essentially being subsidised by England but at the same time vent plenty of anti english sentiments fairly regularly.

I don't want to make this a nationalistic debate as I'm as far from a nationalist as you could hope for but that is just the way it is. Also considering Froch and Burns both lost their last fights IMO it seems a fair cop considering Froch has had far better wins than Ricky career wise which is why he is the bigger star.

I think what division you fight in counts for a lot. Super middle weight has always been a division that casuals enjoy because of past names and prestige. The Hevyweight division is the same even though it's quite a weak division. If Ricky was a welter, SMW or above and had the same level of success/wins he's already accomplished, he'd probably get far more recognition and fame. Joe Calzaghe is a good example of a non Englishman who gained a lot of headlines and recognition.
