Agree with you on Davison. Shane McGuigan is ticking quite a few of those boxes.

I think the starting point is to look at whether their fighters have underachieved or overachieved given their potential. Davison got hold of BJS and he looked garbage against Akavov. Then Fury was at his worst against Wilder I, Wallin and Schwarz, but you can hardly blame Davison there (even though he did get the boot). Then Josh Taylor performed as expected against Ramirez.

So for me it's too early to tell. We need to see more before we can start having a proper conversation about him. Be interesting to see what he does with McGregor and Wood.

Having said all that it still does have a whiff of fake it until you make it.

I'm not advocating Davidson in any way but you can only beat what's in front of you as they say.
Shane for me is doing similar to Ben but took Frampton to the top so he ticks that box .
Very few tick all the boxes to keep people happy on here.
Most opinions are regards their personality or maybe there are rival trainers on here haha

Boxercise Ben was just a PE teacher up north until fat fury came knocking for some strength and conditioning sessions. Now he thinks hes the worlds greatest

Was he really a PE teacher? I can't imagine that he is university educated. Or is this a traveller PE class?

Wilder 2 really exposed the difference between amateurs like ben and real boxing men like freddie the joke coach roach.

I thought roach was being a twat, but his analysis proved to be true.

Yes. And Tyson (and probably John) took the Roach advice, found someone to think it through and execute it, and the rest is history.
It’s a shame they had to go through the Wallin fight for it to become clear.

He’s clearly not educated enough to be a PE teacher. He’s not unintelligent, but there’s no way he’s had much formal education.

Leigh Wood looked a lot better against Can Xu than pre-Davison against worse opponents. Taylor/Ramirez was a real 50/50 I thought.

    It has to be...

Anwyay, yet to listen to this week's pod but I agree with the sentiment. I think Ben just winds a lot of people up but he's already got some impressive achievements under his belt.

Coldwell never trained him. He was with Dom Ingle for years as could be seen with his switch-hitting and "fencing off" in the Xu Can fight. Ian Grant trained him for the Jazza fight.

    My mistake Coldwell managed him.
