Steward didn't train a lot of HWs . He had less then a handful of HWs. He trained Holyfield once and that was his win over Bowe. He was training McCall and got a win in Lewis. Lewis then went with Steward and became the dominant HW. he then had a Klitschko fall in his lap.... He's very similar to Roach, the careers prove that with improving guys , the difference is Steward had a dominant H.W in Lewis and Klitschko for decades combined. The best trainer in the game is Ali Bashir and imop is better then Steward. He also happens to have a dominant HW in Vlad Sirenko who I said over a year ago will emerge as the best prospect. Just like his mentor had those guys he also has a special fighter to mold in Sirenko . Off hand nowadays not sure who has most successful ratio of all weight classes. Abel Sanchez has Joe Joyce now maybe him ?
I was thinking something along those lines about him possibly seeing Fury as a talent that could get HIM back in the picture
I don't really think it matters as I don't think Fury really listened to either of them. Fury is smart and knows more about boxing than Davidson I don't think he really needed anyone to tell him to box clever and look out for Wilder's power that would be pretty obvious to a guy like Fury. In saying that Davidson did a great job getting Fury in shape. Also there is no coach who would encourage Fury to showboat that is just in his nature and he will always do it.
Roach probably makes more sense because of the vast amount of experience he has. But it depends what works for Fury, only he knows that. I think Davison is too young and inexperienced to give Fury the attention and knowledge he requires, but I could be wrong... I don't know too much about him.
