Ben Hall v Carson Jones

Hall was slowly being chewed up, he basically quit in my opinion, he was showing out as soon as Jones started turning up the heat and he couldn't cope with the pace and Jones' work rate and he looked shattered.

Hall's corner didn't seem to buy the hand injury, gave him some verbal and the very next round he was throwing the right hand again, once Jones started working him over again Hall starts tapping his shoulder and retreated to the ropes and gave his corner and referee no choice but to stop it.

Hall looked for a way out and got one, he wasn't unlucky or hard done by, we watched Chamberlain box to a win against Camacho with a dislocated shoulder 8 weeks ago, if a fighter really wants it he will at least try and find a way, Hall didn't, he ducked out.

The yelp of pain when the hand 'went' was a bit Hollywood. He couldn't have made it any more obvious if he'd scribbled down 'My hand's broken' on the round board and given it to the girl to hold up....

 

Hall's corner thought he was dominating and even though he was clearly a one armed fighter he deserved another round to see how he would go. Turns out he was still lighting up Jones so they gave him another.

Go and watch round 5 again and see how many punches he was landing compared to Jones. He hit him with numerous hard left hooks and stiff jabs.

He threw the right a couple of times in 5 but it was a pitter patter punch and he was obviously feeling it, and then the shoulder injury happened which looked like a left shoulder and you expect him to fight no handed and in pain GTFOH. Nobody can be expected to continue in such circumstances especially a novice like Hall.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hall was 5-0 up on the cards he was the home town fighter, the injury was just unfortunate.

 

Jones said it was a tough fight and that he was hurt to the body but denied being rocked to the head even though he did the stanky leg in round 3.

Jones is only 30yo which is still very young so being washed up shouldn't be an excuse for the man that went life and death with Brook and arguably won.

I don't know how long he will be out for or how serious the injury is but if its not a career threatening injury Hall should avenger this loss one day.

Right firstly, you are obviously choosing to ignore what his corner said about his right hand, they were screaming at him "no excuses", they were having none of it and he was throwing the right hand after his corner gave him a verbal and Hall's corner were doing a corners job, they tried to give him confidence, a few instructions amd got him off his stall and sent him out again.

Like I said, we saw Chamberlain beat Camacho only 8 weeks ago with a dislocated shoulder, he was one armed and wanted it enough to grit his teeth and fight.

I could give you a very long list of fighters with far worse injuries who fought on and won.

Hall didn't want it, as soon as it got tough he was showing out, feeling sorry for himself and looked for a way out.

I honestly don't know what you watched but it wasn't the same fight as I watched.

 

It is a script I have seen many,many times over the decades and I honestly think it seems to be getting worse now,but when a fighter like Hall gets jumped up levels to fighting opponents who will fight fire with fire,you soon learn about the heart of the prospect.You can't teach that.

Only he will know I suppose because it will give any future opponent the incentive that maybe Hall doesn't like it when the going gets tough.....it's a hard tag to shake off on the circuit.

Maybe I'm being too tough but he has paid for being too comfortably matched.

1 easy round to score, Jones looked cold and slow
2 (bit more even but Hall was doing the better work)
3(very close either way but Hall did wobble Jones),
5 Hall was making Jones miss and making him pay


Jones 4 clear dominant round

Tbf at best I could give it 2-2-1, but I couldn't agree that Jones was ahead

Hall was no armed in the end broken right hand most likely and bung left shoulder, I have never seen any one go 5 rounds under such circumstances
