Now that Klassen is no longer his concern, Fernandes has turned his attention to Isaac Hlatshwayo’s fight against Naoufel Ben Rabah in Sydney on July 20. At stake will be the IBF intercontinental title. "I’ve done all the preparation and I know I’m ready for this fight," the former IBF welterweight champion said. "I want to be a champion again, and I am confident I still have what it takes to get there." Hlatshwayo has lost just twice in his 34 fights. But one of those defeats came in December 2009 when he was stopped for the first time in his career by Jan Zaveck — and with that went his title. "The Angel", as Hlatshwayo is affectionately known, has fought just once since then, in a low-key eight-rounder against Nkululeko Mhlongo, and at 33 he is close to the end of his time in the ring. Hlatshwayo said he would have a clearer idea of when he would travel to Australia once his visa application had been approved. He did not know much about Rabah but said that he would do his "homework". The Tunisian-born Australian, who is nicknamed "Chocolata", has won 33 of his 36 bouts. Seventeen of his victories have come via stoppages. Rabah has twice challenged unsuccessfully for the vacant IBF light-welterweight title. He was outpointed by Juan Urango in Florida in June 2006 and eight months later in Sydney he failed to answer the bell in the final round against Lovemore N’dou.
Watched Choc do some sparring tonight, he's looking very good and very focused on the fight and I have no doubt he'll come away with the win.
