Ben 'Safety First' Davison, what can he add to Taylor?

I was at Taylor Vs Baranchyk and Taylor Vs Prograis and to be fair Taylor was a bit reckless at times and open on defence.

 

It’s hard to know what exactly Davidson brings to the table technically wise. He did a great job bringing Tyson back from a physical and motivational point of view and he seems to be a great companion, but technically, I think Fury just did his own thing. Then he fcuked him off in favour of Sugar Hill.

Now it appears Billy Joe Arsehole has left him yet again (TBF he just jumps from one gym to the other, usually without even fighting) and gone back to Tibbs, so we can’t even see what work he can do with him.

I think Taylor needs some work defensively- he took a shellacking in that Rogaruo fight, so maybe Ben can help in this department.

He’s also got Shabaz Massood, who looks to be a promising young prospect, so it will be interesting to see what he can do with him.

 

Taylors style and aggression will always see him shipping some punishment and unless they are planning on becoming a pot-shoting point scorer or counter puncher I doubt we will see much if any difference in Taylor.good calm cornerwork and advice is a must from Davison.

 

Josh will have terry and hopefully Jimmy tibbs in the corner aswell and he listens to them so he should be fine.not sure about Davison at all but he's struck gold landing josh.

 

I agree with @Dragon Punch. We don't know exactly what he can bring to TTTs game. Cos we don't know enough about him and his work.
It seems, that he doesn't quite know when to pull the trigger against opposition and although he did a fantastic job on been by Tysons side when he took on the monstrous task of pulling himself out of the doldrums and shifting a mountain of weight, what does he actually know about the technical aspect of the game?.
Im asking btw not condeming the lad.

Reading a fight second by second when it's your fighter in the ring is also something that requires experience, as well as knowing how your fighter ticks.
There's so many questions for me regarding Ben that I havnt made my mind up on the lad.
I saw him giving a technical breakdown when Tyson fought wilder 2 and as he was breaking it down I just got the impression that he was parroting what he's heard Tyson say.
For me, I just dont see how he's got the experience as you need hours in the gym with different fighters over many years and as far as I know he helped out with Tibbs at his gym, he might of been on work experience for all I know cos I never seen him on a corner till he did BJS that night and everyone was questioning who the jerk was in the corner!!
Since then he has defo got top notch experience with Tyson for the fights he did but how many was it, about 4. He also done a couple of fights Iirc with Isaac lowe
I wish the lad well and maybe he's made for this game. And what usually takes most people years of experience, he gets it in a handful of fights.
For me the jury is still out on Ben!

Ben Davidson is not a real trainer. His only utility is in being a bro to guys who have fallen out of love with boxing or are going through some career struggle. If anything, he will create bad habits in a fighter. This is a terrible matchup for a fighter like Taylor whose whole game is being highly technical.

Fighters who need the Ben Davidson Buddy in camp should also hire a real trainer.

 

Genuine question but who did he come up under training wise and for how long ??

he seemed to come out of nowhere but surely he was an under coach for a while ?

I think this is a lot more Important than actually fighting experience.

 

This might be totally wrong, but if I remember correctly, he's connected to the travelling community in some way and got into boxing training through that. He knows BJS, Isaac Lowe etc and worked with them casually a few years back hence meeting Tyson more recently.

I don't know much more than that or who he's worked with in the past.

One thing he will bring to Taylor's training camp is those swimming woggles.

 

Davison must be doing something right. I don't think Taylor will be with him long if I'm honest.

Davison is obviously a very good people's person but that won't last long in the boxing game. Fair play to him though.

 

I don’t know, is the honest answer. But I am intrigued to find out. Taylor is already pretty polished, his defence could sharpen up so perhaps there will be emphasis on that.

 

Is there any footage of Davison crying and reacting to Fury getting floored?
