That was a Riyadh Season show though so I didn't count it because Turki / Saudis were leading the event. Several Boxxer fighters seem to be unhappy with no dates for when their next fight will be including Viddal Riley in particular. Hopefully Sky step up and give Shalom more dates. Buatsi vs Yarde was supposed to take place at Selhurst Park actually this year which is why they booked the stadium but it didn't happen for reasons I can't remember. Think it was something on Yarde's end.
Sums up his career, I remember his team also cost him a GGG fight. Clown then and even with a new team still a clown now.
I do not dislike Eubank and enjoy watching his fights but the man is an arrogant fool who has an inflated opinion of himself and because of it he wont make any concessions in negotiations. Every promoter he has worked with has said the Eubanks are a complete nightmare to deal with. It's no wonder that he can only get fights with boxers who are on the turn and have little options left on the table. This man has ruined his own career. Saved by Sauerland's in getting a pass for the Super Six tournament, otherwise his record would be even more of a joke. At his age now cannot ever see him getting a marquee fight, fluffed it with GGG and now Canelo. Eddie Reynoso's is spot on with his statement and this is exactly the way an A-side fighter should deal with him.
See what you mean, fair enough. I guess with Sky getting to sell some of the Saudi PPVs, there's less need for them to put their own dates on. No doubt they'd have tried to put on Wardley-Clarke 2 on PPV but it was delivered to them on a plate anyway. If they can keep a slice of the PPV money (as they're by far the biggest UK market for boxing PPVs) there's little incentive for them to invest in traditional Saturday night boxing.
Which unfortunately, seems to be Matchroom and DAZN’s attitude as well at the moment, which means there isn’t a whole lot of ‘big’ shows anymore. Does feel at least like Warren has put on more shows than usual this year on TNT, but that seems to be down to the sheer amount of (presumably cheap) domestic level fighters he has. Wonder if he’ll run more or less shows next year if he ends up on DAZN as well.
May well do. I hope somehow he's able to take some of the TNT crew with him. Can't imagine Bellew being desperate to work on a Warren show so maybe they could sub in Frampton for that!
They’ve only put 7 shows on in the UK this year, and 8 overall if you include the Polish card which wasn’t their show. Their fighters are getting frustrated with lack of dates and it would be a huge shame if Sky pull out of non-PPV boxing which sounds like is what will happen. By the end of the year I think Queensberry would have done 1 more show in the UK than Matchroom. 6 of them have been York Hall shows filled with prospects (e.g. their show on 18th October). Hate to get drawn into a promoter argument but you could argue if you compare the 3 best shows each promoter has put on in the UK this year, Boxxer have arguably been the strongest and Queensberry the weakest. Boxxer - Wardley vs Clarke, Buatsi vs Azeez, Billam-Smith vs Riakporhe (2 world level) Matchroom - Taylor vs Catterall II, Catterall vs Prograis, Yafai vs Edwards (3 world level) Queensberry - Ball vs Rios, Joyce vs Chisora, Davies vs Masoud (1 world level)
Ben 'it's incredible'' Shalom single handedly ruined sky sports boxing while taking back handed payments from some dodgy cricket fixer behind the scenes. That dodgy cricket fixer is probably even telling shalom who to sign. Apparently he orchestrated the Eubank Jr signing.
I don't think you need to be nervous If Queensberry / Frank Warren ends up on DAZN UK then it will be with their own broadcast team. Both Matchroom and GBM Sports (both on DAZN) have their own team.
