Thoughts on Ben “Wonder” Tackie? A fighter that I’m sure most are familiar with. He was a contender from Ghana known for his toughness and throwing nonstop punches a round although a rather one note style and slow footwork that made him vulnerable to be outboxed. But despite his obvious flaws he’s shown to make astonishing come from behind wins such as when he stopped Edwin Santana and Robert Garcia. Besides the two mentioned he’s also fought the likes of Gregorio Vargas, Freddie Pendleton, John John Molina, Ray Oliveira, Kostya Tszyu, Sharmba Mitchel, Ricky Hatton, Juan Lazcano. Good fighter with a never say die mentality who made the most of his ability.
A tough night for anyone cuz dude wasn't going anywhere. Sharmba was the only guy I remember legitimately knocking him down though Kostya had him hurt. Wasn't stopped until the end of his career. Not top of the crop skill level but dogged and tough as old boots.
Tackie's fights with Molina, Oliveira, Garcia, Santana are very good fights worth watching. Been wanting to see his bout with Teddy Reid which was a wild 5 round brawl but can't seem to find it anywhere.
