Olympic silver medalist, Ben Whittaker has signed a long-term promotional deal with Boxxer. I was so sure he would sign with Eddie and Matchroom. Ben Shalom must be offering big money because he's signed quite a few of the Olympians. Do you think this is a good move for Whittaker? I think he has star potential for sure but hope he's in exciting (and challenging in time) match ups
He is a slick boxer (Cuban style). I’m not sure whether he has the power to dominate at 175 but joining Sugar Hill will help with that. He is also 24 so should fill out a little more. Very tall, so it’s best for him that he stays well away from Cruiserweight, as he could end up in a situation where is he is too big for 175 but too small for 200. He said he wants to fight Dan Azeez for the British Title in less than 5 fights, which I don’t see happening to be honest. I think he’ll become a World Champion for sure though. His demeanour means that some people will love him, but a lot of people will dislike him as well. Some people give him stick for his reaction at the medal ceremony after losing in the final, but it must be difficult having just lost what you have been aiming for for over a decade at the final hurdle. Anthony Joshua rates this guy too very highly.
He's a talent and a future champ providing he can hold a good shot. Even if he's lacking in that department he should go far because he's very skillful, tricky and elusive.
I really enjoyed his debut last night. Good performance and loads of personality. Looking forward to following his career.
A real talent that has star potential. Fair play to Shalom for investing so heavily into the future by acquiring Whittaker and Adam Azim
