If I was them I would be matching him far harder. He’s clearly got talent and is huge at the weight.

    An example of matching tough.

The promoter invests money in building a boxer's career and the promoter obviously wants to protect that investment.

This is probably also why Matchroom continues to be very careful about who they match Conor Benn with.

Boxxer have alot of eggs in Whittaker's basket. They are really banking on him to be their next cash cow, along with Azim. I can see them only getting a step up after at least 10 fights for Whittaker & 15 for Azim.

This is how these olympians should be matched. Hearn said Yafai would be matched like this but he's taken his foot off. No excuses for the level of opponents Whittaker has been facing.

Hearn said he was going ‘Lomachenko style’ with Yafai then his 5th fight was against Tommy Frank

That's astonishing, I expected Marku and Kongo to be making less than that for their fight! I may well be wrong, but assuming the Board order it, he'd be at the mercy of the bid? His alternative would be to forego the title, without which he really isn't getting paid much for a fight, correct? Seems to me like holding out for a ridiculous payday could land him without a title and looking at (a) being brought in as an opponent for far less or (b) packing it in ...

Only two male british olympians with world rankings are Chev Clarke and Yafai. Yafai also has a smaller pool to pick from when matching him.

Oh i agree with matching tough and Ben will be matched well but to still only be ranked the 16th best british light heavyweight as an olympic medalist is shocking. I dont even expect to match tough but give Ben something to work with and learn. Emmet brennan is ranked higher on boxrec after two fights. Even guys like Thomas Faure or Geffrard would be smart over the next few fights.

Yafai is top notch so have a word with your Matchroom lot to continue his fast tracking. Cheers.

Boxxer will be getting increasingly anxious to put a recognisable name on Whittaker's record. That will be Ricky's key bargaining chip. I remember Graeme Earl getting £140k to fight Amir Khan for similar reasons although Earl was established at a higher level than Summers.

Don't forget, Ricky is the English, rather than British Champion so, if he wants too much money, Boxxer can just pass him by.

Shakkan Pitters, as a former British Champion who is falling out of the loop, may well be more easily and less expensively tempted.
