His promoter has stated that they won't be pursuing a fight with Bivol unless they can win the purse bid and get the fight in the States instead of Saudi Arabia. Says he's considering Callum Smith instead for Benavidez since he doesn't believe the fight with Bivol will get made and will ask the WBC to strip Bivol. Is this Benavidez avoiding Bivol?

Unreal. Not only is Bivol the undisputed champion who has fought in his opponent's backyards or on the road many times to challenger Benavidez's 0 times, but the US is thee last place on planet Earth a Soviet brother should be fighting a top American in given how many of them have been robbed over there and how rare it is for them to get the rub of the green over there.

Not to mention it's the only country in the world which not only stacks the deck with a home ref and three home judges but it's damn near the norm over there

And Saudi is a neutral country not Bivol's home country. WTF?!

No it's the contrary it's Bivol who don't want Benavidez and probably want a third fight with Beterbiev before to try his chance in Cruserweight.

How is Bivol wanting to fight a 3rd fight, evidence of his avoiding Benavidez?...... The match up is 1-1 with Bivol winning the last fight. It's also one of the biggest fights to be made over there.

Benavidez, though talented and worthy of an opportunity has done nothing to make himself priority over Bivol or Canelo, or anyone else that Bivol sets eyes on for the immediate future.

Benavidez is easy work for Bivol

Turki isn't keen on it but if it happens - it will be in the USA - Bivol has to deal with a very small purse, a potentially hostile judge selection and also falling out of favour with Turki as well ......

Benavidez isn't easy work for anyone. Far from unbeatable, but not easy work......but I agree on the rest of your comment.

Not that I agree with but possibly they want a trilogy, and for Benavidez to beat Callum Smith to marinate the fight against Bivol as they know how high risk Bivol is.

Bivol is capable of winning most rounds and comfortably winning the fight against Benavidez but if its in America, the judges are being instructed to give Benavidez every close round. This fight should be neutral in Saudi.

Go check the purse histories of Bivol and Beterbiev. With the exception of their fights against each other and Bivol vs Clenelo, they've been criminally underpaid for fighters of their talents, accomplishments and standing

Hell, even when Bivol fought Clenelo he earned a lot less than Plant, BJS and Callum Smith did despite being much better than all of them and having held the world title for many years

As I've said before, a Haney who had only beaten the shot, old, inactive ghost of Gamboa earned twice as much for facing the shot, old, inactive ghost of Linares than Beterbiev and Gvozdyk earned for fighting prime super dangerous versions of each other in a unification match up

Bivol and Beterbiev are 1-1 and if Bivol wants a rubber match for those big Saudi bucks then good on him he thoroughly deserves to earn the kind of money he is now

He would be easy work for Opetaia and prime Beterbiev.

So the fighter who refused a step aside offer, and wants the fight to go to purse bid is the one ducking? Interesting spin. It seems Benavidez is dedicated in making the fight happen. I would prefer he fights Bivol anywhere he needs to though.

Benavidez might not have a choice though, if Bivols side wins the bid, its upto Benavidez to accept the terms and location isn't it?

Getting stripped for refusing to fight his Mandatory Benavidez would be avoiding him though. He can fight Beterbiev again, after he fights Benavidez, what's so complicated?

Benavidez has done something to make him a priority. He is the WBC mandatory and the fight has been ordered. You seem to give zero respect to rankings, and mandatories..

I think both of those 2 definitely beat him and it doesn't even have to be 'prime' Beterbiev. I think he beats him today......but I guess when I think about 'easy work', I think about an individual getting in the ring with his opponent and has nothing that will give him confidence to suggest he could compete, let alone win..... For example, Charlo vs Canelo..... Opening round, he simply looked out of place and uncomfortable as if he accepted the fight 48 hours before and wasn't prepared to face Canelo.
