I think he's a good fighter who has heavy hands, not a huge puncher but he gets your attention real quick. Sure scared Canelo

Guys you don't get my point. Surely Benavidez is world class, but it's more about his great stamina, attitude and mental toughness rather than skills, he doesn't look anything close in terms of pure technical abilities to the guys like Usyk, Crawford, Inoue, Bivol, Stevenson.

Benavidez is definitely not the most skilled fighter in terms of pure boxing but he's still skilled in his own way, just in a more aggressive approach. He can be defensively responsible from time to time with the high guard and he also knows when to step back before coming in right away. His sense of timing and distance is pretty overlooked. To me he's like a bigger, better version of Subriel Matias. More talented, not as crude, and better skills than Matias but still mainly a constant come forward fighter. Not a polished technician by any means but a damn good offensive fighter.

I think Beterbiev wipes him out to be honest. Even now. Benavidez doesn't have the footwork to evade an attack like Bivol could.

He is relentless and wears opponents down..

There's nothing special in terms of "eye test". Just a great fighter with great genetic stamina.

what do you mean "pure technical ability"? in what area is david inferior to those names you mention? what is his technical deficiency?

You don't need to be special to succeed in life. Plenty of examples in boxing history.

He's also been very impressive since the age of 20. Different breed.

Shakur took nearly half an hour to stop an electrician a few months ago; there's no way I would put him in this list alongside these names. If you'd have said Bam instead of Shakur, I would have agreed, but Benavidez is special because he is a throwback; he doesn't sit on Twitter all day arguing with people or coming up with fake matchups that never happen. He is a throwback, will fight anyone, loves to get into a war and have a fight, and he's got the capability to drag anyone in and around that weight class into a complete war.

Benavidez is one of the fighters I look forward to watching the most. He's definitely up there in terms of skill. If we are talking technique, then that's a different question. He's not P4P top 5, but he could be 18 months from now. At the moment, he's in the top 10, and for me, anyone in the top 20/25 P4P is a special fighter in terms of skill.

You are biased towards the outside boxers. Ask yourself, who can do more in the ring between Benavidez and Bivol. Who is more versatile with their defense and offense?

Who is better at putting punches together, who has better punch selection and variety. Who is more accurate. Who has a better inside game? Who can throw can uppercut and who can't? Who's defensive style takes more skill?

Who is more accurate? (David is number 2 on compubox)

Bivol relies on distance control for defense, while David is in the firing zone relying on parrying, slipping, blocking punchers, and using his defense as a springboard for his offense. What actually takes more skill?

David is way more skilled than Bivol imo.

I even reckon Zurdo looks chubby at cruiserweight. Benavidez is going to look like a massive fatso at 200 even though he is the better fighter the more I think about it this could backfire on him.

Benavidez is way bigger than Bivol and the fact he weighed 196 for his 2nd fight at LHW since moving up, 12lbs more than career 175 Bivol's highest recorded fight night weight and 13lbs more than what Bivol weighed vs Clenelo, will attest to that

Bivol has forged a career fighting bigger or much bigger guys sans Clenelo and doing it in their backyards or on the road for the most part, not fighting smaller or much naturally smaller ones in his home country

Benavidez is fighting opponents his size or smaller at LHW, not bigger or much bigger.

How would Benavidez do vs a much bigger 12lb heavier Bivol? Let's not forget Benavidez himself said that Bivol has one of the strongest right hands of anyone he's shared a ring with and he rated Bivol's power as a 8 out of 10

I'm a big fan of both and they both actually share a lot of the same attributes: Fast hands, great defence, good chins, excellent engines and high work rate, elite skills and combination punchers albeit they're very different fighters. Bivol has much better feet though. Benavidez is a better in-fighter and is more creative and varied with his attacks.

That being said, Bivol has really sharp reaction times and is a combination counter puncher who can punish you immediately with sharp singles or swift barrages of combinations

What Benavidez has in his favour and what many Benavidez fans won't mention is he's much bigger than Bivol, is much younger and fresher with way less miles on his clock. Bivol is about to turn 35 next month (they actually are only a day away from sharing the same birthday. Bivol 18th of December, Benavidez 17th)

And Benavidez would either have home advantage or at absolute worst the fight would be in Saudi and if it was the former Bivol would have to shut him out or knock him out to get the win because we all know how often they rob the foreigner in the US and if you're a deep Soviet brother you should categorically never fight over there vs their boys because the obligatory 3 home judges will rob you blind damn near everytime so there's no way Bivol should or should agree to fight Benavidez in the US if they ever do fight each other
