Benavidez lost his shot at Canelo when he lost his title on the scales. There are consequences for being undisciplined.

We're less than a week away from Canelo's deadline to commit to fighting Benavidez, but for some reason they decided to leave 168 and forfeit his mandatory status.

When Jose Benavidez was asked if Canelo said no to fighting his son, Benavidez was lost for words, and admitted that Canelo never said no.

Has he ever said "yes"? Has he ever expressed any interest in Benavidez? Why not try to build the fight up instead of dismissing him?

... And why are you so convinced that Canelo would have ever gone after the WBC title at 168 if Benavidez hadn't have gotten stripped? He seems as if he wakes up in cold sweats just dreaming of having to share the ring with him.

At this point, it is far more likely that he would've leapfrogged him and moved up, just as he was preparing to do to Beterbiev if his cherrypick vs. Bivol hadn't gone awry. Canelo had already handpicked his fight at cruiser.

    LOL.

I didn't say they're comparable. I said Canelo will always have the stain of ducking him.

He's obviously ok with that though. He won't be the first to duck and won't be the last.

I'm pretty sure it won't even be a footnote in Canelo's legacy.

According to Jose Benavidez they were in negotiations with Canelo recently. So that tells me Canelo is more than open to the idea of fighting him.

No you're not. To this day people still say Floyd ducked Margarito, Robinson ****ed Burley, Dempsey ducked Wills etc.

And to this day it doesn't affect their legacy. Thank you for proving my point.

It was a cherry pick to move up a weight class and fight against a much better boxer than Benavidez will ever be who was also LHW champion? How stupid can someone be?? No offense.

You guys are so consumed by hate for Canelo that your bordering on being delusional. I've seen people act as if Benavidez was the guys mandatory for years with this whole duck/cherry pick thing when he never was and still isn't the guys mandatory yet. It just goes to show what they really want is to see is someone they perceive who can beat Canelo fight the guy because they hate the guy. The same thing went on with Floyd.

Have you ever considered that perhaps Canelo wont fight the guy because he's not giving into what the haters want? Rebellion is a word that exists for a reason.

Why the obsession to watch Canelo fight anyhow if you hate him so much??

That seems like a great reason to take food from a deserving fighter's table and give it to Jermell Charlo. Yup.

I’m sorry all this time I thought canelo made a name For himself by being a red headed 15 year old knocking out grown men in Mexico
& had a whole country behind him.
thats what put him into the position to get the Mayweather fight to begin with.
“He got a whole country behind him” = $$$$$$$$$$

Benevides lost his titles on the scale due,
to being an undisciplined booger sugar indulgent.

he bring little to nothing to the table outside of hardcore guys like us to watch the fight.
I hate it that they aren’t fighting
But it’s the. Business of boxing been like this for a very long time now.

If he beats either Beterbiev or Bivol or better yet both,
He will be the next “Mexican Monster” to command the fan base when Canelo ultimately retires.

that is “building your own legacy”
As he won’t need canelo to fight him in order to achieve it.

They asked him if Canelo said no to fighting Benavidez, and Jose started stuttering and fumbling his words.
