Benavidez earned his shot at the WBC title when he beat Plant, in March of last year.

The champion has one year to respond to the mandatory challenger. Meaning, in four days Canelo would be required to announce his intent.

    We have two issues here.

    1. Benavidez strangely moved up to 175 one week before being able to force his status as mandatory.

    2. PBC is having issues with the guarantees for a fight between Benavidez-Canelo.

PBC never made Canelo any offers for a Benavidez fight.

When Showtime canceled boxing, PBC lost their guarantors. It's why he left PBC? Crawford walked away as well, and word is that many other fighters are leaving.

So sure, Canelo could have fought Benavidez since last March, but he got one mandatory out of the way in Ryder. And he fought one of three PBC fighters.. the other two were probably Jermall, and then Benavidez last.

For one, Canelo was made to look like an amateur vs. Bivol; how much credit are we giving him for that? And what
Does that shitty list of fights at 168 prove, in your opinion?

Benavidez has done nothing but prove himself as Canelo's number one challenger and get the entire boxing world to ask for one fight... which Canelo has failed to deliver.

.. Which brings me back to my question: what has Canelo said over the past two years in regards to fighting Benavidez?

    Thanks.

May 22 he won the interim belt and it's now Feb 24, you're talking about September 24 and on another thread you were talking about March 25.

It's a ludicrous time to make someone wait.

He shouldn't be waiting forever, it's already too long. If Canelo won't face him next then Benavidez moves up and tries forcing a title shot at LHW. Fair play to him.

Again, I'll type it slower. Benavidez became the official mandatory in March 2023.

Between March 2023 and February 2024, Canelo fulfilled one mandatory, and then begun his three fight deal with PBC by fighting Charlo.

Canelo was going to announce what his intent in regards to the WBC title were, but a couple of things happened.

    1. Showtime got out of boxing, resulting in PBC losing their biggest financial backer.

    2. Benavidez moved up to 175 a week before he would be able to enforce his mandatory status.

PBC is not able to come up with the guarantees for Canelo, meaning they can't make the Benavidez-Canelo fight.

PBC never made Canelo an offer to fight Benavidez.

Why are you trying to blame Canelo for PBC not being able to deliver the fight?? Lol

And also Canelo-Charlo essentially not meeting their expectations as far as PPV buys is another reason they couldn't pay what they originally agreed to in Canelos contract. They messed up making Canelo-Charlo in the 1st place, that fight should have never been considered.

I just hope Beterbiev doesn't duck the way Canelo did. Let Canelo fight Charlo and Munguia. If Benavidez is good enough he'll soon be undisputed LHW champ and then he can dictate to Canelo.

Benavidez will lose and give Canelo an even better reason not to fight him this is unfortunate. Gvozdyk would also beat Canelo, so i respect Benavidez for this

The investors didn't want to fork up Canelo's guarantee because they weren't confident it would sell.
I guess you're new to boxing.

How long have we waited for Bivol-Beterbiev? And the unumerous amount of fights that tool time to be made and some never even got made. Like Lomachenko-Garcia?

You're acting hysterical, like Canelo has committed this great sin. Lol. Bro get your head out of your ass, this **** happens in boxing, and Benavidez isn't like he's all deserving either.

He's had How many years at SMW to fight the best SMWs, and how many has he fought? One if you count still count Plant a top SMW after getting KTFO by Canelo.

Yeah Benavidez-Canelo would have been nice, but clearly PBC couldn't produce it.

Let's hope Matchroom can and does next year.

Benavidez didn't have a lot of options. It was either Morrel, or move up and try his luck there, he chose the latter. PBC doesn't have the investors to pay Canelo his guarantee.

There was never an offer. They were promoted by the same company.

PBC couldn't produce a fight of this magnitude. That's why they let Canelo walk.

Bro, don't use that as your source. The Benavidez team have been a mess.

Sampson Lewkowicz first said on twitter that Al Haymon offered Canelo 55 mil.

Jose Benavidez then says that Canelo were the ones who made the offer, for 5 mil.

He goes on to say that he was ghosted by Canelo's team. So instead they decided to fight Gvozdyk.

Gvozdyk is managed by Eddy Reynoso and fights under Canelo promotions.

So how exactly were they ghosted if in order to make the Gvozdyk-Benavidez fight, it goes through Team Canelo!? Lol

Jose Benavidez and Sampson Lewkowicz are making **** up.

They are referring to the Canelo fight them fighting Gvozdyk would be irrelevant to that. The Canelo offer was afterwards I'm pretty sure and Benavidez mentioned that they'd take the minimum of 5 million, which really sounds like something Canelo would do. But assuming you're correct...

Benavidez is the next best guy at 168 why not just send an offer to negotiate if they're the A side, if Canelo really wanted it. Even Reynoso said "Canelo's legacy will not he defined by NOT fighting Benavidez".

    https://www.boxingnews24.com/2024/0...re-even-without-benavidez-fight-says-trainer/

So strange. Why suggest the fight may never happen ?

Laughable hearing Jose say he never knew gvozdyk was managed by Reynoso.
