I have just started out boxing (about 2 months). At my gym I box against alot of guys that have been boxing for 2 or more years. Will ths be beneficial or does getting my ass handed to me have no benefits?

Anytime in the ring is good time. Anytime you learn something new it's beneficial. If these guys are willing to teach you and not KO you then it's probably a good thing. Just because you "lose" doesn't mean your not getting better.

That because you like most new comer to the sport , you really have no direction and you seem to think that each sparring match is a life and death match for ring supremacy .. when infact after every sparring WORKOUT not Match you should be asking why ,, Why .. did I get hit , why was I not able to land my punches . Sparring is where you put into practice what you have learned from your coach , not a chance to act out a action scene from Rocky ..or imitate your favorite boxer.

and if you go into sparring with the mind set to take your sparring partner head off , then don't be surprise if he flips you the same coin.

It's good because you can learn something each time out there. Same thing with an actual match. If I lose to a better boxer, I walk away from it feeling good, because even though I lost, there will be a lesson in there about some weakness I have that let him beat me, and I can improve on it.

    Well said.

I sparred a new guy last week, he tried to punch as hard as he could but when I somewhat returned the favor he got offended and told me he was new. When I explained it to him he understood, the rest of the session went ok. I think fear made him do that, he wanted to keep me off. Assuring him I would not really hurt him did the trick.

The moral of the story is you need a sparring partner that you can trust. Him being better is ok, as long as he won't put the heat on you too much.

Depends on how fast you learn and how good your training is. Sparring prematurely can be dangerous to the learning process as well as your health.

i was sparrin 3 england internationals wen i ad only had 3 fights
    came home everynight dizzy
but then i sparredthe northwest champ who was a bit lighter but i dominated him an began to hold my own with the higher levels
tho 1 of the reasons i packed it in was because it began taking longer 4 my face to heal
so i turned to coaching an spar my fighters but teach them whilst doin it until ther at my level then hard spars then wen they get better hopefully they will be england ints
