I find it really hard to believe Morrell only weighed 177 but I know Benavidez reputedly came in at 195 for his fight against Angulo at 168 after missing weight by 2lbs so I have no problem believing that.

He said he weighed 189lbs for Gvozdyk but Morrell only weighing 177 seems highly unlikely. Clenelo weighs more than that. Bivol weighs between 180-184 max

Hell, Crawford only weighed 7lbs and a couple of ounces less than that against Madrimov

But some fighters have very deceptive bodies so I guess it could be true

Spiteful power is a good way to put it actually. I'm sick of hearing how he 'can't punch' just because he is not dropping guys. You don't hold the centre of the ring against someone like Morrell without having pop, plus you can clearly hear and see the thudding impact of his shots. You clearly don't want to get hit by him.

He has enough power to get respect, more than that. But he’s not got ko killer power at this weight

And I expect it to get better as he settles into the weight. Even if he lost a little bit of speed, he can afford it with the speed he has now. His arms look a little underdeveloped, adding some resistance training to his arms would probably solidify his punches at contact.

I used to think he hit harder than he does. However, I've subsequently changed my opinion on that now. He's a hurtful puncher but, as said, not an overly concussive one. I'll have to give it some thought to try and think of another fighter with comparable power to his.

Yep at 175 he's going to win his fights on workrate, he's got pop but his power is diminished at LHW.

Yeah, he beat quite a few of his opponents on volume down at 168 but they would generally succumb to it in the back half of the fight. That hasn't been the case up at 175 so far.

There's no way in hell Morrell weighed 177lbs vs Benavidez. I completely forgot the fight night weights for Morrell vs Hot Rod were revealed and he weighed 190 for that one and we know that Benavidez weighed 196 because he said so himself
