quartery wins. benitez' biggest wins were a close decisions against not so good opposition and a close decision at 154 against a midget duran. quartery stopped vince phillips , gave hell to delahoya (some say even won) , all his losses were close except a decision loss to wright at 160 , reminder : quartery came from 147.
could be a good good chess match...but i'm leaning towards a total stinker. quartey moves in with the hard jab looks to pin benitez against the ropes and land leads. while wilf is looking to find space to counter from. while keeping ike at bay. both looking to land th eone shot to win them a round could slow down to a snails pace. i'll say ike with an sd. rarely does anything land and he would be the aggressor so i could see it goign his way.
Benitez by a clear decision. Quartey didn't have the variation on his attack to pull Benitez out of his comfort zone.
Benitez would have frustrated and bedazzled Ike no end..that jab would be hitting air mostly. "El Radar" by a comfortable decision.
benitez was entirely too calm, intelligent, and deadly of a counter puncher to have any problem with ike quartey whatsoever. benitez might slip every single bazooka jab thrown. benitez by an easy as pie unanimous decision, and I do mean EASY
Benitez. Quartey had a tremendous jab and was a hell of a fighter, but he was way, way too robotic for a fluid defensive master like Benitez. El Radar would dodge Quartey's punches without even trying.
Benitez would win by a decision, but i give Ike a chance early in the fight. Ikes only shot is to Catch Benitez but I doubt that he would be able to finish him. After about 6 close rounds in which Benitez survives a knockdown he out boxes Ike the rest of the way and sweeps the late rounds Benitez over 15 144-140.
Benitez SD Quartey Benitez struggled hard against some fresh newcomers. Duran was over the hill more or less. And Quartey did quite well against DLH. Nevertheless I'd say Benitez wins this by disputable SD.
over the hill? this is the same guy who pushed marvin hagler and got the better of him for a decent portion of the fight, in addition to going on to dethrone iran barkley for the middleweight title. he wasnt over the hill just yet. benitez just outslicked him like he did most fighters when in his prime, aside from the likes of sugar ray leonard and thomas hearns, two undisputed all time greats. quartey would have nothing for benitez, easy ud
