Does Taylor's handspeed give him a chance here or is the superior operator of the two gonna be too much?

I'll answer my own question, I think Taylor gives Benitez a good fight early, but El Radar begins to take over circa round 6 and Taylor gets picked apart and outboxed from that point part on. Benitez might stop him late as Taylor ate too many shots.

I want to pick Taylor much like I would want to pick him over Whitaker...I just don’t see how.

Oh I can see him being competitive with them, and I can see him making a fight out of it... I just see him getting out pointed. And if we try to cram him into the 15 rd era Benitez May even stop him. Give me Benitez 116-112....although I would never have said this during Meldricks prime lol

My first impulse is to pick Benetiz who I think is the superior boxer. But you just convinced me in the other thread that I need to give Taylor another look lol. (Which is great because That’s what I came here for)

I think Mel matches up better with Whitaker than he does Benitez.

Dont get me wrong, he loses to Whitaker, but Benitez would handle Taylor easier than Whitaker would.

If Benitez was able to handle Hearns and Leonard, who were maybe not as fast as Taylor but close to it and with more power, he could handle Taylor's speed.

Ray was every bit as fast as Meldrick. And Wilfred would decision Taylor, a tad bit more skilled.

Agreed. I've never seen how Taylor was faster than Leonard. Watch Leonard vs Ranzany or Leonard or Andy Price, or Leonard vs Davey Green, and tell me that Taylor was any faster.

Taylor. People forget he beat the hell out of Buddy.
He was not only fast but threw punches in flurries and he had a good chin.
Benitez doesnt hit hard enough to hold Taylor off .
i see Wilfred slipping and defending roo much and Taylor winning a close decision.

Taylor's hand speed wins the day
