God he’s so unlikeable, maybe he’s taking the Mayweather route but without the talent. He comes across as an edgy teenager, painfully cringe and childish behaviour. If beating a fighter at domestic level second time round after being hyped as the next big thing, moves you to tears because of a bit of criticism in the press it doesn’t bode well for his mental strength going forward. He will quit again, no doubt about it.

Whittaker found himself in a division where he will sooner or later be knocked out, depending on how quickly he takes a big step forward...

Who do we see him fighting next? Will they risk stepping him up against a Buatsi/Smith/Yarde? Or will we see him back to fighting 10 rounders against obscure European dudes?

I don't see Whittaker beating any of the above...

This was an awful stoppage. And I am always rather for early stoppages than seeing someone have free punches on an unconscious defender. Had to watch hagler vs hearns as a detox and skipped his interview.

I expect whitaker to fight underdogs for a while and then get an opponent that is a name but a good matchup for him, probably old. I fear we have to endure him for a long time. He is british and stirs up the emotions. That's a boxer that raises money like few others. They will tell us how great his opponents are. Like Liam Cameron (who is very likeable) who had 6 losses, a low ko-ratio and physical disadvantages in just about every department including age.

He will clearly lose against buatsi and smith. Not to speak of monsters like bivol, beterbiev and benavidez.
Just imagine him fighting buatsi (and I am no fan of his). Buatsi took so many shots from smith and walked on. He would eat whitaker alive. And buatsi lost against smith who lost and will lose again against the top 3.

PS: think about the poor people being goaded into buying a ticket for that fight. Maybe it was their first time for a boxing event. They will probably decide to go back to football/soccer and stay there. Sad to think about it.

PPS: was there no standing 8 count in the rules? Am I wrong in thinking there should always be the option of a standing 8 count instead of ruining fights with these tkos?

Me neither, makes me concerned they'll keep the hype train going with extremely carefully matched bouts against either obscure, or shot but fairly well known fighters. They'll make sure they can get a highlights package of him showboating and getting a knockdown or two each fight and the casuals will lap it up. In fairness to Whittaker he isn't a champion, so he can do as he pleases, however if that's the route they take I wont be interested.

This clown has just won by a 2nd round knockout, yet he’s even more hated now, than what he was before.

    Quite an achievement that.

Might be a quite lucrative one, too.

He's eat himself if he was made of Chocolate.

    Totally in love with himself.

And I will echo everyone else in that it was a poor stoppage.
