The British welterweight addressed the doping allegations against him on Thursday and said he would not box again until he had proven his innocence.

Benn, 26, believes "contamination" is to blame for the positive tests.

"Trace amounts were found. The tiniest of traces. The only thing I can think of is contamination," he told the Sun.

"I will not box for them ever again. The way they have gone about this... the way they knew about this [on 23 September].

"They could have pulled the fight. I've given my licence back - I won't be boxing for them ever again.

"As far as I'm concerned the board can do one. I've got nothing to hide but as far as I'm concerned they've got it in for me.

"All the fighters who have tested positive have been cleared to fight. But with me they left it until days before the fight.

"I don't know what their reasons are. Could it be because my dad ripped up his licence on TV? I don't know. I don't think they care about my innocence.

Hate this trace amount defence. It's smoke and mirrors. The test are designed to pick up the smallest amounts of banned substances and there's a simple threshold. If your tests crosses it, you're guilty. And strict liability denies a fighter the 'I didn't know what I was taking' defence.

Of course, he knew exactly what he was taking - a drug which mitigates lowered natural testosterone levels after a cycle of PEDs...

If Benn's never boxing for the BBBofC again, what's the position of the man who built him? Will he be bravely making a stand alongside his embattled charge and fighting the injustices meted out to him?

I realize that Essex Eddie's gone global and all that jazz, but he still holds events in Britain. He has to work with the BBBofC for said events. And his international footing isn't seeming so sure these days, besides.

Hearn needs to be careful not to set fire to bridges here. He might need to cross back over them some day.

Just happens to get contaminated not once but twice, with a post steroid cycle drug on the banned list.

Even with the most expensive lawyers in town, and continuing to lie through his teeth.

Conman Tren is going to struggle to hang onto any of his reputation after this one.

90-95% of the public doesn’t believe him and his brand depends on the casuals buying into his story.

He set fire to all his bridges in the USA and that worked out well. Well it did, work out well, for the other US promoters

Why not do the same thing on his home turf.

Looks like hair transplant is approaching his expiry date in boxing at this rate.
