Watching the one and only round of Benn-Barkley and Carlos Padilla’s handling of the fight.

I think there is a case for Benn to get DQ’ed based on punching after Barkley has touched down on two separate occasions.

Benn should have been properly warned after the first KD as he carried on punching after Barkley had clearly been grounded but the second knockdown was absolutely blatant and Padilla didn’t even deduct a point, only shouted a warning and continued to count.

At the very least, because of the blatant foul, Benn should have been deducted a point and the knockdown waived so the final KD would then have only counted as a second knockdown and not stopped the fight on the three-knockdown rule.

Barkley can consider himself hard done by, I feel.

Thoughts on Padilla and the refereeing in this fight?

I've always thought the referee did a horrible job it's just Barkley is a warrior and he's not going to milk it.

But yes Benn hit him twice whilst he was on the floor he definitely could've been DQed and had Barkley been more like Santana against Norris it possibly could've happened.

Padilla was always a bad referee. He handled this situation miserably.

Most definitely. He probably should've been disqualified.

I don't reckon it would've made much difference.
