Benn, Eubank, Watson, Collins v Ward? Who has the best chance to upset SOG?

Christie was past his best and had lost and been stopped by a shitload of domestic fighters before fighting Watson.

 

Let me just point something out, a guy called Jose Seys knocked Christie out in under 45 seconds much earlier in his career and when he unbeaten.

 

You need to consider style, opposition, etc. Ward scored a lot of stoppages early in his career. He's the first to stop Chad Dawson. He's hurt some world level guys like Abraham and Kessler. He made Froch very tentative.

Watson's single top level stoppage is against Benn, who was chinny and defensively suspect.

 

Was Ward's oppostion early on loads better than Watson's ? Watson stopped the vast majority of his opponents.He also hurt Eubak badly to the point i think he wouldve been stopped in the 12th in the second fight. I also dont agree with the Benn is chinny thing, he was vulnerable yeah but he was only stopped twice in the part of his career that mattered, and took a massive beating in both first.Nobody who is chinny could take the punishment he took against Mclellan.

Watson hit harder than Ward IMO.

Eubank caught Benn with perhaps the sneakiest overhand right I've ever seen thrown in the seventh round of their 1990 fight, and it was a shot that clearly had all his weight behind it. Benn stayed on his feet.

 

All 50\50 fights more or less imo.I wouldn't see Ward losing to any as an upset.

I'd back Watson from the Eubank rematch to beat him though.Better offensively, a bit quicker with his hands if not reflexes-wise,technically even more sound, formidable pace and forward momentum.

Too Jofre-esque.imo you'd need the sharpness of of a kalambay, McCallum or Hopkins to beat that Watson on the backfoot or by trying to be cute.Ward's work is a fair bit messier than that.Bit like a sloppier Buddy McGirt but with more stamina.

 

Benn knocks him out.

 

Having properly thought about it, the upset potential is as follows in descending order

Watson - especially if he can keep up a high workrate.
Collins
Benn
Eubank: What has he got that will remotely trouble Ward? I mean seriously, what a joke.

 

Seys ended his career as a Cruiser but he was a Lightheavy when he beat Christie, a small one at that he weighed in at 172lbs, Christie was 164lbs.

Herol Graham didn't have much trouble with Seys

Conteh's as fair a shout as Watson, IMO, since the latter was mostly a middleweight...and it's obvious Ward is going to eventually dip his toes into the waters at 175 if not spent the entire third act of his career there.
