Dammit !! I fell for listening to another interview on this topic. But at least it was from the mouth of one of the horses, and not second-hand. Robert Smith of the BBBoC. Once again no details of course, he's replying to how he responds to criticism of the BBBoC In respect of the ongoing procedure with Benn (no clarification of what that procedure is about ) ... some snippets ..... "the legal process is very, very difficult ...... it ( the process ) has not gone how it normaly go. ..... when legal people get inolved it takes longer .... it is also down to the individuals and what information they supply ... easy to be (BBBoC) criticised but if you haven't got the information in the first place then it makes it very difficult" I think this is a lot more than ahem ... "trace levels" .. in this process/saga of "who runs boxing" between the BBBoC and people/lawyers who have a lot of money in boxing. Sky Sports Boxing on Twitter: "" ... !" @BBBofCuk General Secretary Robert Smith spoke to Toe2Toe about the ongoing situation surrounding Conor Benn ⏳ Listen to the full podcast: https://t.co/spSqPYwbzl https://t.co/Fuj7u7LUOb" / Twitter
Yes, but that would be untrue. Not much point in posting some of the inside info that I've been able to access if I then start making additions or exaggerations for comic effect?
Beautiful I feel Bellew's section would be padded out an extra ten pages or so due to the sheer volume of exclamation marks.
It was 80 pages originally, 60 after the 'Make no Mistake' and 'At the end of the day's were removed and they dropped another 20 after Benn's legal team felt that the account of how Bellew would outbox Andre Ward added little to their case.
Clearly the board are getting the full treatment from the Benn lawyers. Anyone whose ever been involved with something like this should have some sympathy. There will be a lot of very clever, utterly devious and shrewd minds at work (oh that billable hours meter is running like you wouldn't believe) and far more legal firepower than the board can likely call on. Critically though, this is such a bad look where Matchroom and DAZN in particular are concerned. Benn's team just have to fight for his interests, but what does victory look like? The governing body bankrupted? British Boxing having to surrender the concept of drug testing? DAZN have a multi billion dollar investment in making themselves the home of boxing and this is destroying their credibility in my eyes and likely many others also.
This is what makes laugh reading "if he is proven innocent" Being innocent and found innocent are totally different things. If, they prove he was buying and eating 250 eggs a week, from a specific farm and that farm is proven to be filling their hens with clomid then fair enough. Anything lower than that is just good lawyers
To borrow some football parlance .... "110 per cent mate". Wouldn't surprise me if some interested parties might be "donating" to Benn's "legal fund". I think this is about defanging the board at a minimum, or killing them off like you say. And also side-lining UKAD. Be interesting to know if the Minister for Sport is having their ear bent ... "self-regulation baby, self-regulation" to slightly misquote Benn himself.
Let's face it, he's going to get away with it, isn't he. Even worse, he's going to want and probably get sympathy and this will, bizarrely, be added to "my story" as he knocks out another revived corpse.
