It's a cert that the tickets conditions of sale indemnify them as much as legally possible. Brits aren't so litigious, but I wonder if this happened in the US, if an enterprising lawyer would already be appealing for victims to join a class action lawsuit against the promoters? As I said, unlikely to happen here and probably not much chance of victory if it did, but I'd love to see those out of pocket speaking up every time Conor and team pull the nauseating 'poor me' act. In fact I'd like each and every article that features him to include quotes from 'Darren and Lisa' from Bristol who are out £400 or 'Mick and Jo' from Dartmouth £550 etc with them giving their opinions of the thoughts of Mrs Benn, Tony Bellew et al.
Could be they're playing with fire. One of the interesting things about this was the change in tone of coverage once the dedicated boxing journos were moved aside by the Fleet street big hitters. Their bread and butter is football, they don't have to bow and scrape to boxing promoters or risk being shut out. Matchroom not only no longer have the Sky Sports / News International link-up, they're now the competition. If they're seen to be taking down a very long established British institution so that their fighters can dope with impunity then they're providing a very big target to the media and also rival promoters. Cue Ben Shalom on Sky Sports news with a concerned expression, Frank 'Hall of Fame promoter' Warren with a selection of choice quotes etc etc. Matchroom may not mind, but I keep going back to DAZN. They're paying for this, in more ways than one. I won't subscribe to them again if they maintain a connection to a boxer that tests dirty then seeks to evade the consequences with an expensive brief and a PR canpaign. They will go down as the company that did more to harm the sport in this country than any single boxer, Benn included. Someone there must be monitoring this and realise what a colossal **** show it's threatening to be?
Well said. I imagine Matchroom will double down and try every PR trick in the book to promote Benn as innocent, they are desperate for a household name. I found some of the rhetoric used by Hearn quite interesting. After the initial few weeks of the controversy, he was using terms like "his legal team" "their appeal" and less "we" and "us" its like, if the public don't buy the outcome, he will try and keep his distance and throw Benn under the bus.
I've said it before, why is Benn so valuable, and worth all this possible (adverse) publicity? He is/was never going to be the Next Best Thing, would likely be cashed out against a top tier welter, so what's all this about? Surely they have other irons in the fire? Other talented fighters to push/promote? Surely????
Was Chris Eubank Junior trying to tell us something subliminally by eating all that KFC? KFC chicken? Chicken? Eggs? Was the whole "60%" thing about how good he needed to be against Benn? Or was it another warning of the percentage of illegal crap in Benn's blood sample? Is this "Superman"?......Or an Illuminati warning? This content is protected
