Lets be completely clear whats happened here. Ive made clear my views about Benn and his egg excuse. However lets just assume for a second that Benn was telling the truth and this all due to eating a small nations worth of eggs a week, do you honestly think the WBC and VADA would accept that explanation from a fighter with a lower profile or commercial appeal? Even if it was true im sure their viewpoint would not be the same.
So why didn't he stop eating so many eggs before the 2nd test or atleast get a different source? Complete and utter bull**** but is anybody surprised?
Even if we hypothetically accept that mass amounts of eggs can cause positive tests, does anyone think VADA or WBC would accept that explanation for a lower profile fighter with a less powerful promoter ?
Exactly if i was innocent and had an out of the blue positive test (and i had Benns and matchrooms money and connections) id be getting immediate advice from nutritions and doctors about why am i testing this way
Exactly and also you dont have to prove your innocence in a criminal case but you do still have to prove that the evidence is wrong so its a shitty analogy in two ways. I cant get done for drink driving, tests get presented in court and i go well im innocent and i dont have to prove that ??
What an absolute **** show. Firstly this is the WBCs ruling only and doesn't clear him, secondly when they say no conclusive evidence, that doesn't matter. The fact is he has to prove why clomifene was in his system, what a yolk (couldn't resist). Shows how pathetic drug enforcement is in boxing.
Also let's say its true that eating loads of eggs does this. How did he prove he had eaten that many eggs?
They paid the same farmer who sold Tyson the boar. "Yes, sir i sell a HGV worths of eggs to the Benns twice a week"
A proper investigation would ask for receipts and also be testing eggs from that supplier. If he was eating 30 a day he would go to a specialist provider.
Another thought, does this mean someone can now take clomifene to a degree and go down the eggscuse route? What happens if he gets tested somewhere down the line and fails again for this, along with other fighters.
Connor Benn v Cool Hand Luke up next at Catchweight. First to eat 50 boiled eggs within 1 hour declared the winner and a no contest should neither complete the task within the allocated time. Given recent diet and form, Benn must be in with a decent shout to win this.
