It's Conor Benn's indignation which really pisses me off. All this "the truth will come out" shite. Its funny how in modern society the people most obsessed with truth are also the most adverse to telling it.
The problem is he isn't very good without the gear, so what are they going to do now, be rubbish or roid to hell and just claim he ate even more eggs
I just don't get the effort that's gone into this, and Benn. Never won a British title. Not in any sensible universe considered anything like a heir apparent. Fights non punching past prime fighters....... So, what am I missing? Would I pay to see him ironed out? 100% no. I'd watch and rewatch the highlights on YouTube though!
They dressed it up as if they had some concrete, rock solid information and reason as to why he failed 2 tests and it was in his system. The reality is they were able to give a 'reasonable' explanation as to why it may have been there, and that would do. Not only that, that's fron the WBC, not a governing body or drug testing agency. Laughable.
No it wasn't but the principle still remains. If the WBC say there experts used believe its reasonable that his diet caused the adverse findings why isn't that enough? What exactly else should an athlete need to do to conclusively prove they are innocent? An athlete cannot conclusively prove they never took peds if the test dirty. The only thing they can do is try give reasons for why the test popped dirty. It's then up to the respective bodies to determine if that's reasonable or not.
I don't buy the whole No one can eat 30 eggs a day argument. But I would wager to consume enough to get Clomid in your system (Note you cannot even buy these eggs in the UK), and still make is 147lb is physically impossible. This is tiniest loophole they felt they could negotiate a price with the WBC for a ranking back.
In April 2022 that gq article said he occasionally had egg fried rice. The massive consumption of eggs came after April and between July. Considering he would have had a month off after his last fight, you'd say earliest he would have even back preparing for eubank was June(contract signed in August but they negotiated for 3 months). So on 1st June he started eating 30 eggs a day. Surely protein shakes would have been enough?
You don't eat 30 eggs a day and make weight. Simple as that. Someone in World Strongest Man probably does eat 30 eggs, but they probably need 7,500 calories a day
Completely agree, the damage to Boxing & Matchrooms reputation imo will be far more reaching than they think.....and for what, a guy that fought in front of about 6k fans on his last fight. Take you Eubank fight away and when ever have large numbers of fight fans been interested in watching him
