I agree but that's why I say this isn't on Connor Benn. It's on the WBC as they make the decision. Of course he is now going to shout his innocence and who can blame him.

Everyone wanted this settled. One may not like the decision but what else do people want Benn to do? Now the ruling has been made he should be allowed to fight.

So you're just ignoring strict liability? The test objectively proved guilt and strict liability means Benn is responsible for his failed tests irrespective of mitigation. Mitigation might prompt a lesser punishment but does not make him any less guilty according to due process.

A sanctioning body reinstalling him in their rankings doesn't clear his name, only the BBBoC can do that. But then he's walked away from that process by handing in his licence.

Yes, he can apply for a licence elsewhere and continue his career but as sure as eggs are eggs he's guilty of 'taking' a banned substance because it was identified as present in his system by drugs tests. It's entirely beyond reasonable doubt - he failed the tests...

 

On that basis Kid Galahads mate spiking his drink is now actually a genuine excuse and one that shouldn't recieve any ban

On the basis of strict liability, no. It means if a drug is found in his system, the boxer is responsible irrespective of the reason. But I'm guessing if he could prove a drink was spiked, the punishment - or lack of - would reflect that. It might be possible, in that case, no sanction is imposed...

Well this is quite eggstraordinary. Benn always seemed confident but whilst we were hearing they were gonna use this egg nonsense I can’t believe the WBC have swallowed it.

In all honesty, the fact that this egg diet was his defence just makes him look more guilty to me, utter garbage
