Good seeing Frampton not afraid to suck up to Hearn and his cronies, he's never liked the big streak of ****. Remember when Benn was being meme'd constantly for going ****ing mental over the simplest of polite questions after fights..how did nobody spot this before.
Think about everything Eddie Hearn has said in the past. It is quickly forgotten... Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn must be completed - whatever it takes. Sad that the boxers' lives are being put in danger.
This is perhaps the final nail in the coffin of Matchroom boxing. Hearn is clearly a desperate man, who's under pressure from DAZN to get this fight on. If he does via Luxembourg or Malta, he destroys any reputation he has left. He's a modern day Don King. If he doesn't get the fight made, coupled with the exodus of talent from his company, DAZN will be furious with his inability to put a major fight on the channel, particularly after AJ Usyk went to Sky. He's willing to sacrifice his reputation to get this fight on. I don't imagine he's having a great day.
I have no doubt Hearn would come out with the usual "doing what the fighters tell him" excuse. He has his own private thoughts on it, but the boxers want to continue and he's obliged to deliver etc etc...
Agreed. He’s been forced into chucking Benn into this because DAZN hasn’t worked out as hoped for. He desperately needs this fight on.
Definitely. When he was with Sky he had AJ who was on top of the world, and was their main cash cow and clearly the main asset to drive subscriptions, now his stock has fallen of a cliff and he hasn't even fought on DAZN the next in line was Benn. The fact he's risking him going up two weight divisions where he could get beaten badly reeks or desperation. He doesn't have a strong enough stable in the UK anymore to drive the subscriptions and build DAZN as a platform. I think he overplayed his hand big time when he moved to DAZN.
Not sure how another board could licence it? It’s not even comparable to the Haye Chisora situation. Surely every board has anti-doping rules? And the international boards probably hold a VADA ruling in higher regard than UKAD.
Spot on. Haye Chisora was down to their behaviour. A drug test fail is a drug test fail. Hearn might as well go the whole hog and have them fighting bare knuckle on the cobbles and having a swig of whiskey between rounds.
The glory days of Matchroom compared with present. In 2014 Hearn promoted Frock v Groves at Wembley live on Sky Box Office with an undercard consisting of Joshua v Dr Legg from Eastenders along with very good competitive fights for Kevin Mitchell, James de Gale and Jamie McDonnell. In 2022 Hearn reduced to an Inter Non Title fight between the sons of 2 legends of the sport with a very poor undercard on a streaming channel unknown to the masses - all for the increased price of £28. Hearn having to beg to get the card to proceed including the threat of legal action. Game has certainly changed
I agree. Matchroom's undercards on Sky Box Office were close to world class. There were always several interesting fights. Today, Matchroom's undercard is worth nothing. Eddie Hearn's time as a big promoter is definitively over.
Looks that way. Seems the only way the fight doesn't go ahead is if eubank said so. If the media turned there back on the fight then that would be something but i can't see that happening.
