IMO the Dazn move and this Con Benn fiasco show that Hearnz isn't this mastermind that he was getting portrayed as. He's someone who flopped his GCSEs despite his silver spoon privilege. I did no studying, went in high on weed to most of my exams and still got all A to Cs lol. A levels is where it gets hard. That boom period was all about right time and place, and he was only able to do it because his dad had already built a powerhouse. His dad is deffo a mastermind though.
Does Eddie Hearn think it helps Conor Benn to cry on camera ? Should we all feel sorry for Conor Benn ?
I’m starting to think you’re not as smart as you think you are! Have you seen Matchroom’s financials?
Bunce had him on the podcast: very, very soft interview. So that is BBC and Boxing News both gone in very soft on him this week. They are putting him back together by the looks.
UK Boxing 'journalism' is utterly broken. They're on permanent eggshells in case one or other of the main promoters revoke their interview privileges. Benn would get tougher questioning from his mum.
They might be making more revenue short term, but they're on shaky legs moving forward due to DAZN not doing as well as they thought it would, AJ turning into a weirdo, running out of ppv stars, burning bridges in the boxing world etc. And it doesn't negate the point, his dad is a mastermind, Eddie isn't.
Personally now that Benn has cried on camera apologised but still insists he is completely innocent i consider the matter closed. Now we should all be good plebs and not question anything he does.
I did wonder when it would dawn on them that their feeble and pathetic attempt to simply bypass this wouldn't work. They've tried everything, a free pass from the WBC has him 'cleared', dodgy testing, contaminated eggs, BBBoC bias and more. Now, Eddie has sat Conor down and explained they're out of options, he has to apologise and try and gain a bit of support back and I have no doubt in my mind that miraculously soon they'll be sat down and complying with the board to get it resolved. What happened to 'Conor will always be the bad guy now, he's accepted that, we have to get on with it'? For some this may mark the end of it and they're willing to forget. Me personally, he will always be Conor Benn, the drug cheat who tried to gain an illegal advantage in the ring and when caught tried his best to save his own neck at the expense of the sport.
In all honestly if he gets back to fighting i would have previously watched him because id be a hypocrite otherwise, i mean i watch Canelo, Fury, etc etc and im sure many others who have got popped for PEDs. Do i like fighters doing them ? No but the alternative is i dont watch high level boxing, literally no fighter would shock me if they tested positive as i believe its that prevalent but my current position is innocent until a test comes back guilty. With all that said now i wouldnt watch Benn not nessacararily because of the tests but his complete and utter delusion and attempts to blame everyone else.
I didn't mean it when I said **** the uk and its fans I have no plans to fight there any way Oh yes your spoilt privilege arse did Crying I've seen pregnant women do this regularly
100 percent agree mate. I'm just finding it really hard to like boxing at the minute. It's a horrible, dirty sport that's equally beautiful and exhilarating. It really winds me up haha. I'll watch Benn again when there's a serious chance of him getting KO'd. Until then, I can't stomach it.
If he ever decides he wants out of DAZN, Sky (and BT/TNT) will roll out the red carpet for him. As for his dad, the man was a pioneer in sports promotion, but Matchroom Boxing was dead. Everything it is today is because of Eddie and his team, Baz has nowt to do with the business as it stands today.
It's amazing how UK Boxing has managed to bugger up such a good thing in the last 3-4 years. Even small things like the Costello and Bunce podcast, which (to me at least) was a required listen back in the day, has turned into Bunce's sycophancy hour and Costello ruined his reputation by getting tempted over to DAZN. The YouTube media used to be good for winding up Frank when he was on the trail of Matchroom - remember him producing all his printed-out emails - but now it's just "Eddie, why are you so good" and "Frank, why is Eddie such an idiot", "Ben, why isn't everyone like you" etc. I'm half expecting "Dave Coldwell, what did you make of the coronation" this weekend; "Sam Jones BEEF, thinks we should be a republic".
