Benn handing back his licence was obviously tactical and probably just as obviously advised for him to do. It would be funny if that tactic backfired on him and cost him more time.
I think I remember Hearn saying at the time, the cancellation of Eubank-Benn 'cost me a million quid.' Judging by all of his actions since, Hearn will do absolutely anything it takes to get that money back, regardless of the repercussions.
It's baffling. When I first heard about it I thought "he must be sure of his facts" but it just seems he got carried away. I often wonder about officials in boxing and while they're well-meaning, maybe it needs professional management brought in.
if the Bboc face legal action Smith should be dismissed. For the head of the organisation to be so stupid is beyond belief. listening to cheerleaders such as Nelson and Spencer Oliver speak on this matter only confirms more stupidity. They keep spouting the same nonsense not understanding how the whole process works. They NADP lifted Benns suspension but they deliberately avoid that fact or they just don’t have the mental capacity to read anything which goes against there own pre determined position on the matter.
If you brought in professional management then boxing really would die. It's the wild west and runs on dodgy money. The way boards and sanctioning bodies are funded is a direct conflict of interest. This sport really is insane.
Smith will consider bypassing UKAD and the BBBofC and going straight to NADP is not going through the process. They won't do anything to them just trying to threaten their way to getting the fight sanctioned. Has Benn gone in front of the authorities and explained his two 'adverse findings'? We know the answer to that by now don't we.
This content is protected Great to see Benn back in camp. He’s looking ferocious. Benn has already been cleared of the first adverse finding. The Board haven’t got anything against Benn right now otherwise they would have issued a ban.
Well, I've said a few times, it's not a sport currently, it is exactly as you say. A sometimes-closed club of promoters and their associates. Professional management might change that and create massive value, in the way UFC eventually did for MMA. Maybe the fighter payment model isn't perfect but genuine top draws get their due and it's one central promotion. Professional management crept into football with the Premier League but eventually professionals know how to beat the system and now it's just a better-funded version of the wild west that came before. The local butcher replaced by a wealth fund with lawyers coming out their ears. Maybe it's not such a good idea for boxing after all
It's already dying. Fallen so far from the mainstream its unreal. I read a newspapers sports page on its website Sunday morning, article after article of premier league, kept scrolling & scrolling down, articles on all sports and lower league football, scrolling down & down, and there it was an article on Katie Taylor being a multiple world champion sandwiched between Leeds utd looking at a possible loan signing a basketball story. It hand a handful of views and 3 comments......people in the main aren't interested anymore, quite frankly I don't blame them, incidents like this Benn saga are absolutely laughable for almost every sports fan where integrity and sportsmanship are key ingredients.
Can they ban someone that isn't licensed? Genuine question. I guess they could ban him from getting a licence but as many have said, giving up his BBBoC badge could easily be seen as convenient just now. For any reason in their rulebook they can refuse to sanction a fight but they can't stop it going ahead. The whole situation seems to suit both parties quite well just now.
'NO F****** EVIDENCE - CONOR'S ALL OVER THE PLACE...' - SPENCER OLIVER RAGES AT EUBANK-BENN DATE - YouTube
MMA's breathing down boxing's neck these days. They're real fighting men who aren't scared of having Ls on their records.
More to the point, how could they back date a ban when he hasn't been licensed? Surely he can only serve a ban/ have it backdated during a period when he was licensed?
This content is protected Benn is just horrible isn’t he? Not releasing sparring footage is pretty much an unwritten rule in boxing.
It's been operation muddy the water from Day 1. The test he's "cleared" from is the WBC just gagging for their 5%. Also remember the bit where Benn had evidence that would rock the testing world about VADA?
