In other Benn news, I noticed Hearn had a bit of a slip of the tongue talking about a potential Barrios fight next year. Saying "can't wait" (whilst distracted by his phone) and then correcting himself to something like "we'll see, would be a good fight" etc. Guess that's next up...
Saunders did box rings around eubank, people have always had this narrative on that fight that if eubank had started fast he'd definitely have won it, Saunders controlled the pace and didn't allow him a fast start.
I think that is the point here, the fans WILL . If CB and his situation are so unpopular then the broadcaster wont pay the money to the promoter who in turn won't offer the money to the fighter who then won't earn the millions and multi millions, but he will because enough people will pay to see him , whether they are paying to see him win or lose doesn't matter at the end of the day. Those kind of figures can only be achieved by way PPV anyway, so the whole show is directly funded by the fee paying public. All the hate for CB (and Eddie it seems) and the utter debacle the BBBofC have made of it only makes the eventual fight even bigger ! The money I was told CEJ has allegedly asked for for the fight now is astronomical compared to what was signed for the original.
Wonder if CEJ will be in for another chance of promoter soon. Kalle can't be happy at missing out on his % of an astronomical fee!
Personally, I have no problem with Eddie Hearn. He is a boxing promoter and sells his product well. It could be because I talk to quite a few different promotors, managers etc. on a daily basis who doesn´t like Eddie Hearn
He should have stuck with that crap belt when he won it the first time. His career has been a shambles compared to his old man.
Only due to inflation. 10 million in 2023 is / was not the same as 10 million in 1993 when his Dad was boxing. Eubank Snr had that big deal with Sky which I am pretty sure was 10 million for 8 fights, plus he made plenty before that including 900k for the second Benn fight.
Yup. But wasn't the original deal for the 8 fights to take place within 12 months, i remember Warren heavily criticising it saying it will never happen.
