I can follow your point, but I wonder if it is a principle for Eddie Hearn / Matchroom ? They have invested a lot of money in Conor Benn and they want to get that investment back.
I mean, by the letter of the law if they cut losses when there's still money to be made, they're breaching their duties as directors. DAZN is presumably paying rights for the Benn fights until he gets to a PPV so there's no real reason for Matchroom to get out yet. Meanwhile Eddie can forget all about it over a pint with his new mate Frank.
Conor Benn is the most overrated and oversold UK boxer in recent times. He is nowhere near what Eddie Hearn has expressed but at the end of the day, professional boxing is a business. Don't you think Matchroom sees an opportunity to get their investment back ?
This is exactly what is so fascinating about professional boxing. Promoters can be mortal enemies one day and work together the next day if they smell money
I get that Eddie can get money back on Benn if he fights Eubank. And you are right as in that will be what Hearn will be thinking. It's just me as a person with morals wouldn't want to ruin my reputation and harm my business for a scumbag like Benn
Not going to lie, I'd probably watch. Although it's more ****** season than Riyadh. Wouldn't be remotely surprised if they do a "gloves are off" style thing for their 5 v 5 though.
Genuinely given Eddie will claim this a one of our premium events included in our subscription, how horrific is this card? https://boxrec.com/en/event/887431 Still swags of seats left, despite getting 4 London/Essex lads on the card
