Hearn will be gathering his troops as we speak ready to try and bend the truth. Frank Smith, Bellew, Parsons, Sam Jones and Koogz.
This has always been a huge part of the issue, the board have acted correctly and not spoke to the media etc. But it has allowed Hearn and Benn to run their gobs off, making it look like the board were being lazy. This is a huge W for the board. I honestly believe Hearn has done this in the past but previously there has never been a leak meaning the board had to suck it up in silence knowing they didn't have the cash to challenge hearn. The leek (Cheers SNR) has given the board the licence to fight this. Fair play to them, even if Benn fights at the end of the year, they will have truly proven their point.
Think there's an article on this website about hearn saying give Garcia a lifetime ban hahaha. The front on the ****.
I see Benn has done a podcast with James English. Should come in useful if anyone needs to be sick. English is like a budget 2007 Danny Dyer sucking up to so-called hard men and Benn will be playing the mental health card.
I hope so. I normally don´t ill will to anyone but Conor´s behaviour has been deplorable and the potential for injuring a pro boxer while drugged up hasn´t been really touched on. Boxing is not a game, fighters can die, suffer damage later in life or have the careers ruined by a power punching juiced egglomaniac who normally couldn´t break an egg with his punches.
Conors accounts are on companies house for his ltd company up to July 2023. He has gone down 100k in cash at the bank but still has 600k+ in his bank account. What is interesting is his liabilities have gone up 250k to 550k+ and he has taken on 300k+ in trade creditors, which I assume is legal fees https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/10296258/filing-history
English is an odd lad but he's had his own demons too. He was in a Scottish version of "Only Way is Essex" based in Glasgow, online only, which completely bombed. Most of the people in it remain nonentities, English developed various habits peaking with gambling, but managed to turn himself around so fair play. Some of that turnaround was boxing training so for once I think he 'gets' the fighters even if his chat is pretty lowbrow. The niche with gangsters and porn stars is just a way to guarantee adult views that pay well enough on YouTube.
It really isn't that simple. I'm no fan of the Mail either, but a scoop is a scoop. Any proper reporter credits a source, which is why Benson is such a leech. Without Riath and the Mail, the Eubank-Benn fight might still have gone ahead. Think about that.
The news, opinion and sports teams in newspapers are all separate. One of my pals works for the Sun, a good honest football journalist who gets genuine exclusives on his turf - but he's plagued with people going on about the infamous Hillsborough front cover (which was done by the news desk in London) and says how the sports desk never gets any say in stories like that if they come up. When the journalists are left alone to do their job properly it should be applauded, regardless of who they work for.
Benson just sits on twitter clicking refresh, copy and paste whilst people put in all the work travelling up and down the country for not alot of money. Benson is a scumbag
He doesn't even have the decency to do that most of the time though, that's the thing. A retweet at least gives credit. His MO is simple. Real journalist breaks story e.g. "Exclusive: Boxer comes in overweight in official weigh-in. Has 2 hours to cut weight or lose belt." Benson tweets 2 minutes later: "!! Reports that boxer is on verge of losing belt on scales. Needs to make weight in second weigh-in within two hours." That Benson tweet gets all the attention, replies, retweets, monetisation opportunities, etc. THEN - 10, 15, 20 minutes later - he replies to his own tweet saying "Originally reported by Dan Rafael / Riath al-Samarrai / Mike Coppinger" - without a link to the reporter's original tweet. He adds no original material of his own to justify what he does. (Though last night he didn't even credit Riath for breaking the story nearly two months ago, which is what I moaned about then.) The reporter themself gets nothing from his involvement - that is scumbag behaviour.
