UKAD hands a four year ban to a fighter who died in the meantime for testing positive for cocaine, yet the Fury's and Connor Benn, who have tested positive for bona fide PEDS, receive no such punishment. Proof that enforcement of anti-doping measures have nothing to do with the actual offence, and are rather dictated by how much money the offending party can throw into a defence.

It’s ugly and shocking.

 

So Benn not even in the gym. Hasn't fought for 6 months and counting. Clearing serving a suspension. The only think not clear is what the duration of his suspension is.

 

He ain't allowed in the gym as he is suspended until the case is heard. He can't work with any board license holder.



He is out in Spain at the minute waiting for his case to be heard.

He will then get a 2 year backdated ban to this year.

 

The current situation is funnier than a ban for me. His career is dwindling away, everyone has forgot about him, and on the rare occasion he can fight it’s in a Mexican function room with 200 people watching.

 

If he had his time over it would have been far better for him to have just admitted he cheated and taken the ban straight away. By now it would have been all over. It could hardly have gone any worse for him the way he and Hearn played it..

 

And even Hearn is backtracking now to the point of criticising Benn for being too eager to fight it (which suggests Hearn was acting as promoter and mouthpiece all along, so much for totally believing in innocence etc). Always a fight for business rather than

Meanwhile, Eubank Jr will more than make up for the lost purse if he somehow lands a Canelo fight. Still can’t see it but fair play for trying another cashout.

 

There is becoming a fairly large market for organizing unlicensed boxing events. Maybe this is where the future lies for Conor Benn ?

In any case, his career will come to nothing - unless he starts eating eggs again.
