Also, I cannot wait for the joint post fight smugfest from both CEJ and Shalom in the ring as both Benn and Hearn scuttle off sharpish.
It's simply arrogance on the half of Benn and Hearn; when you have been brought up with a silver spoon in your mouth and have been rarely told "no", you can begin to think you can bend the world to your whims and that the rules do not apply to you.
I think it´s incredible to hear Boxing youtube channels seriously state that Conor Benn should be allowed to fight in the U.K. Their main argument is that there are so many who cheat among the active boxers today. Instead of 5 v 5, Matchroom could arrange the PED's Championship Boxing tournament. Conor Benn could perhaps make his mark there ?
Sadly, they operate in probably the only industry in the world you can get away with that kind of attitude and behaviour. Any other sport and people are held accountable. One of the main reasons it will continue to be a minority sport - the average sporting fan with half a brain thinks the sport is a laughing stock.
In my eyes, he lost all credibility to be taken seriously on any controversial topics in boxing when he took the dirty Kinahan drug money.
Huge fan of his father but Conor can get fooked. He personifies everything I dislike in boxing, sincerely hope he never gets to fight again. Complete and utter scum.
Conor Benn was also in the studio saturday night on DAZN and he talks about himself as if he is the Mike Tyson version from 1986 - 1989. Has Conor Benn been brainwashed ? It's completely crazy that he considers himself a great boxer with an enormous punch ! ...??? Conor Benn needs a reality check.
The guy is thicker than a boxing day shite. After the inevitable KO defeat & his boxing career is over he will eventually end up in HMP
Throughout this I've struggled to understand the thought processes of those involved, or at least those who are capable of thought... Are they now trying to build him as a 'heel'? He was never a great boxer, he's been protected throughout, his sudden mysterious increase in power now seems to have a very obvious explanation, so what's left? A bit of nostalgia around his famous name, some fawning interviews with whichever media types are on his promoters payroll? Does anyone even care? I have zero interest in watching him in the boxing ring, even if it's to get himself knocked out. He just seems utterly irrelevant to me.
Absolutely this. You're not alone in failing to understand all the fuss over an average and unlikable boxer, with the same surname of someone that was good 30 years ago.
