My money is on them following the Whyte blueprint - don't offer any explanation whatsoever for how the substance got into his system. Just put out some wishy washy statement about the amounts being so small it's not consistent with steroid use, then let Bellew take centre stage screeching how he knew all along Benn was innocent. It's a gamble and might not work a second time - the casual audience seem to be paying more attention now - but from what I've read about the substance involved not only do there not seem to be any plausible excuses, there also don't seem to be any implausible ones either (uncastrated boar, nasal spray etc).
I can just imagine Eddie and the PR gang at Matchroom HQ going through every conceivable excuse - they'll be past page 100 on their google search of 'how can clomifene be introduced into the human body' by now. Genuinely intrigued to see if they can come up with something.
I can feel a "CompanyBunce" parody account coming on... His podcast moved very quickly onto the womens' fights this weekend after a pretty soft "many questions" episode last week - biggest story in boxing and basically ignored. No coincidence the BBC was providing support and 'shoulder content' for Matchroom until last week blew it up?
You are absolutely right. Dirty things will come out in the near future. Eddie Hearn must concentrate on overseas events and forget about UK.
That would take some extra-special stupidity to continue to take it though ...... I'm not ruling it out
Probably mate. No idea what must have happened behind closed doors for UKAD to release that utter nonsense when dropping the Whyte case with no real explanation. Guessing Matchroom can strong-arm VADA in the same way. It'll still be interesting to see the accompanying statement and if it manages to blow over with the public in the same way. I'm not so sure this time.
This content is protected TalkSport doubling down and releasing a special 30 minute podcast to attack Hearn and all involved. Even Kugan gets a name check from Jordan who says Hearn need to give answers to someone capable of asking grown up questions, not the powder puff ones from Kugan Cassius! Calls the interview staged and pointless. Hearn likely won't be going on TalkSport anytime in the near future to use it as a promotional tool.
Hearn has been shrewd in using social media and specifically IFLTV as his main propaganda weapon. His interviews while appearing to be casual and very open are in fact very carefully scripted and censored. Not a chance he confronts Jordan he sends in the likes of Spencer Oliver to do that for him.
He's guilty as sin. If he was truly innocent he'd be pushing for the immediate testing of the B sample, he'd be asking for a hair test to be done, he'd sign up to all the drug testing agencies going, he'd release the results of all of his other tests etc etc. Well, that's what I'd do if I was innocent. I'd go above and beyond to prove I was innocent. What he's really doing is biding his time and using the time to formulate some BS excuse/loophole to get himself off scot-free or with as minimal punishment as possible. It's transparent as sin.
Even if it's the case, you can bet your bottom dollar it will be a technicality. Some paperwork not signed off etc.
