After reading another thread with posters saying they cannot watch this because of the outcome, I was thinking the opposite. This was a fantastic boxing fight where both men gave their all, it is a massive disservice to McLellan to not watch his amazing bravery that night and to Benn who fought the fight of his life. These guys knew the risks and took them for the fans, not for the fans to become squeamish. I would love to see this boxing fight released on DVD with added commentaries from Benn, McLellans trainer, family or virtually anyone involved in the fight. The lions share of the money made from the sales of the DVd could then go to McLellans family to help his upkeep....It seems to me to be a travesty that from such a sacrifice that Gerrald made for this fight , he can't seem to earn anything from it. Thoughts?
i toatally agree, i think that fight was pretty special, a terrible outcome though, but if people never wached the fight it would be like he ended up like that for no reason because the fans wont wach it, id love to see this on dvd with more of a background to the fight
I think the fight should be released it was a great fight and the g-man should get a healthy cut of the profit.
I would like that but im not sure its the best thing for Mclellands family. ...but i completely agree with you about the amazing bravery of Mcclellan etc. I think i had trouble watching it at first but ive seen it a few times now. Your right in the fact that Mclellans bravery that night was something extraordinary. And benn too. It has to be the most intense and incredible fight ive ever seen and i didnt even see it live! Anyway i agreed with your point. Good stuff
Not to be the ******* in all of this, but have any of you actually read G-Man's back story. I feel sorry for anyone who ends up the way he did, but the able-bodied Gerald McClellan was an absolute **** tbh. I mean taking dogs in from the pound, then taping their mouths up and wrapping their claws before literally feeding them to his pitbulls speaks of a serial killer in the making. From a sporting point of view the fight was a belter, but again I have to point out that the post-fight comments by both Benn and the commentators are unsavoury to say the least. Or should we just hush all this stuff up.:huh
Funny, McClellan threads don't usually take this long before someone brings that up Incidentally, I agree, the man was a ****. They should release the fight and give McClellans share of the money to the RSPCA.
dont believe everything you read and dont be so quick to judge. Ofcourse its almost certain mcllellan was into dog fighting but some of the side **** sounds wrong when you put it all together. Anyone can say what they want while hes blind and 80 percent deaf. Your also just bringing up the character being portrayed by media and heresay. Youve never known the man so why are you so certain of hes attributes?? What about all the people who have said he had such a nice side blah blah blah.
Tell my about his nice side. I'm open to argument on this topic. I don't think him being blind and nearly deaf should come into this; no one came out with bull**** criticism about Michael Watson after he suffered something similar. Is there some reason why certain people should have any reason to slate G-Man? As I said I'm open to argument here.
I have this on DVD. The best of Warren fighters I think.... it's the first fight fight on it. What a classic.
b/c watson is british and a british boxer hurt him. the british wanted to enjoy Benn's win over mcclellan. anything to justify that sentiment.
should be released. both men took each other apart. it would be a waste for that fight and that display of courage only to be remembered by a journalist on itv and sky sports new forum...G needs the money for his support and benn is a preacher who totally resents his boxing coverage so a decent amount of money would go to mcClellan. on the talks of dogs my friend from school has a pitball-greyhound which is an evil muthafuka. fast and aggressive. he has a group of mates that have a poundful of pit pups. anyways to keep them aggressive and imbed that lust for blood they buy a rabbit or a clipped chicken/parrot from the market and drop it in the dog pen. horrible, lucky if they are not ripped apart in the 1st bite. but it can go on for long whic makes ist pretty sickening. but thats the only way you can make them guard dogs. dogs are sometimes a substitued for guns in some areas and if i am sacrificing a dog to attack my offender i might choose to do so...especially how it is normal practive.
lol argument? Im not really putting any type of argument across, just putting across the the other side of the argument if you know what i mean. I dont see how people are so quick to know him and everything hes done, im merely putting across the other side. I KNOW you should never be too quick to judge someone. The 'nice' side thing at the top is just a case of what ive read and heard. Again, your saying it as with almost a surprised tone. Like he was this monster, who was like terminator lol. This is the image surrounding him for some. Im sure some of it comes from the fact he was a ko artist. And hes ko's were brutal...etc..etc.
