Roy Jones is the greatest H2H.

Eubank is the greatest according to resume, following him would be Calzaghe, after that i don't know. Collins, RJJ, Ottke etc...

    Something like this

    1. Chris Eubank
    2. Joe Calzaghe
    3. Carl Froch
    4. Sven Ottke
    5. Steve Collins
    6. Roy Jones
    7. James Toney
    8. Nigel Benn

H2H Jones smashes all listed. Carl Froch and Ottke are the weakest on the list and if they faced anybody else on the list they'd get destroyed. Froch might beat Collins.

I thought Benn deserved the decision against Malinga the first time (just) and I would say that fight finished Malinga as a fighter because of all the body shots he took (combined with the many hard head and body shots he took against Holmes and Eubank). His left jab was still long enough to keep a one-dimensional Benn (in early '96) and a flat-footed Reid at bay though, a few years later, and his tucked defense still tight enough to keep Jones at bay (in late '93) a couple of years later (Jones had to resort to feints).

I would rate Thornton over Wharton, but not the faded Thornton that Jones fought. Apart from the leaping left hook that dropped Thornton at the end of the 2nd, he failed to land a clean shot against Thornton's tucked defense (the 20-punch pit-pat flurry against the ropes was mostly slipped and blocked by Thornton, who's shoulder dislocated). Thornton was very very good in his time.

Who gives a ****? WTF does that have to do with anything? Different fighters use different tactics that work for them, and Jones tactics worked and KTFO Malinga. Benn and Eubank didn't come close.

Eubank had great wins over peak Watson and Rocchigiani, drew with peak Benn, had a great performance against peak Wharton, beat Holmes and Malinga and Thornton in 12 months with three other fights inbetween (!!!); the other fights being against recent challengers of other versions of the title, so hardly gimmes. Hard to better that I agree.

H2H is a bit interesting. I would go with Nunn to beat Eubank and Jones, Eubank to beat Toney, Toney to beat Nunn, Toney to beat Benn, and possibly Benn to beat Jones. Then there's Calzaghe, who I'd go with to beat Toney and Benn but lose to Eubank, and Jones to beat Eubank.

Eubank came very close when Malinga was on his back, got up on ***** street and was saved by the bell. A round sooner than Jones. And that was a far better version of Malinga than Jones fought - I think the Eubank and Benn fights in '92 finished the veteran Malinga.

Benn would have lost and retired. Everytime Benn lost he would get mad and retire. I can actually see Benn getting stopped.

Jones was the most gifted fighter I have seen in my time. Didn't have the heart of a lion and didn't take risks fans would have loved, but he was something special. Same with Mayweather and most great fighters. Would I have liked RJJ to take more risks given his talents? Sure. Do I think less of what he did in the sport? No. It is what is it. Nothing will change that RJJ will always be remembered for being a supremely gifted fighter in the ring that had people excited to watch him. Speed, accuracy, power in both hands, unorthodox and cat like reflexes....haven't seen anyone show that potential yet and waiting for the next one to come around. For now, Mayweather is very similar to Roy.

Mayweather didn't take all risks but is the best. He is nothing like Roy from an athletic level but has near perfect fundamentals and defense that will probably allow him to stay competitive much longer than Roy. I appreciate amazing fundamentals just as much as I do a super human athlete which Roy was.

Nobody was faster than RJ at any weight class in his prime. He was amazingly fast.

I'm not convinced Benn would have beat that Pazienza to be honest. The Paz who fought Jones looked the best he ever looked, honestly he might have had enough to beat Benn.

It's interesting though that Tony Thornton (RIP) told me in an email that he thought Eubank had the fastest hands he came up against, I'll find the email if you like and copy/paste it

Roy Jones Jr put him into retirement. You can watch the fight footage and see with your eyes who was faster. Roy was so fast that the camera couldn't catch his punches in 30 frames per second. His punches at times were literally just a blur. I wish they had HDTV and 60 frames per second because then you'd see just how much faster he was.

If it wasnt for a hometown ref, Benn would of been KOed in the 1st round or he would of been DQed for his rabbit punching against G-man. People also need to remember that G-man already had brain damage before he stepped into the ring that night.

Benn was KOed/stopped/quit numerous times. RJJ would have no problems with Benn.
